The Taco Bell Chihuahua Gidget dies on July 21, 2009. Much controversy was raised about Gidget when activists said the character of the Taco Bell dog was racist, promoting negative cultural stereotype of Latin Americans. After being forced into retirement, Gidget became depressed and developed a drug and alcohol problem. After three trips to the Bonzo the Chimp clinic, Gidget was ready to face the world once more. She was hammering out a deal with Disney to translate the Movie Space Buddies into Spanish at the time of her death. Gidget you shall be missed.
"YOQUERIO TACO BELL!" In honour of the passing of Gidget, the famous Taco Bell chihuahua, here's the reupload of one of my classic mash-up trailers in the "Where's Wall-E" series. Read the synopsis below, and enjoy! Chloe, a pampered pooch from the most overrated neighbourhood in the USA, finds herself lost in the mean streets of Mehico, where she meets an assortment of Latino stereotypes from other movies (including a trio who suspiciously sound like Cheech Marin). Her not-so-secret-admirer, Papi, embarks on an Incredible Journey to rescue his one true love. If only he can stop endorsing a certain fast-food chain that sells tacos first... Keep an eye out for a Ratatouille cameo, as well as other various Disney dog flicks and Latino movies! And Cheech Marin fans will get the running joke throughout this trailer!

Rich Gilly! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Taco Bell ad star Gidget the Chihuahua dies at 15 By ROBERT JABLON (AP) 23 hours ago LOS ANGELES — Handlers say Gidget the Chihuahua, whose Taco Bell commercials made her a star, has died. She was 15. The owner of Studio Animal Services in Castaic says Gidget suffered a massive stroke late Tuesday at her trainer's home in Santa Clarita and had to be euthanized. Gidget was the sassy mascot in Taco Bell commercials from 1997 to 2000. While other dogs had bit parts, it was her bug-eyed, big-eared face that is seen pronouncing, in a dubbed male voice, "Yo quiero Taco Bell," Spanish for "I want Taco Bell." The ads made the Taco Bell mascot wildly popular, although they provoked some criticism from activists who felt they used Mexican stereotypes. Gidget also had a role in the movie "Legally Blonde 2." Gidget, the(Taco Bell) Chiuahua died on July 21st 2009 of a stroke. She was 15 years old. She started her career at the age of 3 in 1997 with her 1st Taco Bell commercial as the hugley famous "Taco Bell Dog"(voiced by Carlos Alazraqui). The dog made popular the phrases "¡Yo quiero Taco Bell!" ("I want Taco Bell!"), "Drop the chalupa!", and "Viva Gorditas!," meaning "Long live Gorditas!". Sadly, in the year 2000, Taco Bell stopped using Gidget for their commercials because some Latin Americans accused the dog of being a stereotype. Gidget later reprised her role as the dog for a 2002 "Geico" commercial along with the Geico Gecko and in 2003 appeared on the big screen in "Legally Blonde II:Red, White, and Blonde" as Bruiser's mom. She made popular the Chiuahua breed and will never be forgotten. RIP Gidget (94-09)

Gidget, the famed Chihuahua who appeared in Taco Bell ads, died Tuesday at the age of 15. Karen McElhatton, Gidget's owner, tells Usmagazine.com the dog was with her trainer, Sue Chipperton, watching television when she began making "strange noises" and suffered a stroke. Before the dog's death, "She had a good day and was running around as normal," McElhatton tells Usmagazine.com. "We're happy that she was very well off right until the end." See other famous Hollywood chihuahuas Gidget -- whose "Yo Quiero Taco Bell" spots debuted in September 1997 -- also had a cameo in Legally Blonde 2, in addition to appearing in other TV spots. We enjoyed working with Gidget, and she will be missed by many," a Taco Bell spokesperson tells Us in a statement. "Our deepest sympathies go out to her owners and fans." The dog had an exceptionally happy life, her owner says. "She lived like a queen," McElhatton tells Us. "She had a great life. We're very sad. She's a wonderful little dog." See photos of stars with their favorite dogs McElhatton tells Us the dog will likely be cremated. Find out what celebs' dogs say about them Adds McElhatton: "She was old. Gidget Taco Bell Dog
8c599daf.ubervidz.com RIP gidget The Taco Bell chihuahua was a popular advertising figure and mascot, voiced by Carlos Alazraqui, and developed by TBWA and used by Taco Bell, which is a division of Kentucky, United States-based Yum! Brands. The Chihuahua is a breed commonly associated with Mexico, as are the tacos the restaurant serves. At least two dogs were used as models the original was named Dinky, but was replaced shortly thereafter by a dog named Gidget. Dinky and a dog named Taco would also be stand-ins for Gidget. In September 1997, Taco Bell used the dog in one advertisement in the Northeastern United States. The positive response to the dog led to the company using it in advertisements across the United States. The dog (sometimes depicted as a Mexican revolutionary wearing a beret or as a bandit wearing a sombrero) was made to speak through special effects. His advertising catch-phrase was "¡Yo quiero Taco Bell!" ("I want Taco Bell!"). The voiceover work for these commercials was provided by voice actor Carlos Alazraqui. The figure grew popular, so much so that toy figures of the dog were produced, and "Yo quiero (X)" became a recognized piece of pop culture. The dog also started two other catch phrases, "Drop the chalupa!" which briefly became an oft-quoted phrase on SportsCenter, and "Viva Gorditas!," meaning "Long live Gorditas!" In a noted crossover with the 1998 Godzilla film, the dog famously attempted to trap the legendary monster in a box, goading the ...
