She has since established her career with films such as Miss Congeniality and Crash, which received critical acclaim. In 2007, she was ranked as the 14th richest female celebrity with an estimated fortune of $85 million. In 2009, Bullock starred in the most financially successful films of her career, The Proposal and The Blind Side. Bullock was also awarded a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress, a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role
It was a night of firsts at the 82nd Academy Awards as Christoph Waltz, Sandra Bullock and Jeff Bridges all won their maiden Oscars. And a woman won the sought-after Best Director gong for the first time ever. Kathryn Bigelow's film 'The Hurt Locker' was the big winner of the night, picking up six trophies. The small independent production was chosen as Best Picture and won more awards than James Camerons Hollywood blockbuster Avatar. It was a personal victory for Bigelow (58) as Cameron (55) is her ex-husband. Cameron's movie ended up landing only three out of nine Oscars. Christoph Waltz (53) was named Best Supporting Actor for his memorable performance in Inglourious Basterds. He can now add the most important film prize in the world to his Golden Globe and a Golden Palm in Cannes. The Austrian actor was the first winner of the evening to be announced and he gave perhaps the most moving speech of the evening. That's an ĂĽber-bingo, he said, delighted. "There's no way I can thank you enough, but I can start right now. Thank you! Jeff Bridges won his first Oscar at the age of 60 for playing a country singer in the drama Crazy Heart. He was chosen as Best Actor above the likes of George Clooney, Colin Firth and Morgan Freeman. He reserved special thanks for his wife of 33 years, Sue. Avatar won for Best Motion Picture Drama, The Hangover got Best Musical or Comedy movie and in the animation sub-category, it went to UP. As far as television goes, Julianna Margulies, Michael C. Hall, Toni Collette, Alec Baldwin, Drew Barrymore and Kevin Bacon, Chloe Sevigny and John Lithgow all earned top honors. And so did breakout show, Glee and Mad Men. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association decided some other awards for the show as well, including naming James Cameron as the Best Director for Avatar, Up In The Air won for Best Screenplay while UP earned the Best Original Score and finally, Martin Scorscese took home a Globe for his lifetime achievement in the industry. I'm Joslyn Davis and that's all up next. Hey guys-thanks for watching ClevverTV. This is our official red carpet re-run for the ladies. So let's kick things off with one of the first looks we saw. Glee's very own reigning princess, Lea Michelle's dress screamed drama drama drama! And of course we mean that as a total compliment. The Oscar De La Renta down was black, but it was definitely NOT boring. The layered black skirt added an amazing edge to the dress. And we think ti's a great choice for the actress's first Golden Globe's appearance. Also wearing black was Spanish beauty Penelope Cruz, who was nominated for her role in Nine. Now, even though she didn't take home a trophy, she deserves one for her red carpet look. Her Versace gown was reminiscent of almost a Sophia Loren-type look. And again we saw some great layering of ruffled fabrics. Some might argue that this look was a little blah for the actresses, but we like the simplicity of it's overall feel. And the cascading wavvy hair style finished things off perfectly. Another trend we saw a lot of was the deep redish/purple hue as far as dress colors.
