An exposé of comic proportions that only Chris Rock could pull off, GOOD HAIR visits beauty salons and hairstyling battles, scientific laboratories and Indian temples to explore the way hairstyles impact the activities, pocketbooks, sexual relationships, and self-esteem of the black community. Director Jeff Stilson follows Chris Rock on this raucous adventure prompted by Rock's 5-year old daughter approaching him, asking, "Daddy, how come I don't have good hair?" Celebrities such as Ice-T, Nia Long, Paul Mooney, Raven Symoné, Maya Angelou, Salt n Pepa, Eve and Reverend Al Sharpton all candidly offer their stories and observations to Rock while he struggles with the task of figuring out how to respond to his daughter's question. A question from Chris Rocks daughter jumpstarted the making of Good Hair, but the idea for a documentary about the culture of black hair actually took root in Rocks head about 15 years ago while doing a stand-up gig in Atlanta. He noticed his hotel was packed with people, and everyone seemed to be there for the same reason: the Bronner Bros. Hair Show. Hed never heard of it, but to the over 100000 attendees its a yearly tradition stretching back to the early 50s, with hairstylists, barbers, and hair fanatics from all over the world coming together to discover whats new, best, and different in black hair care. It was a massive gathering, and Rock couldnt believe what a passionate, colorful crowd they were. In short, Rock discovered what a big crazy business black hair was. I've been around hairdressers my whole life, he says, but I'd never seen anything like this it was just a whole another vibe. So 15 years ago, I had the idea this would make a great film. The idea laid dormant until years later when Rocks daughter asked about her bad hair. He was astonished. I tell my daughters I love them 70 times a day, he says. I hug them and I kiss them I'm that kind of dad. To hear my daughter did not like something about herself when I'm telling her she's beautiful every single minute of the day really had me thinking about hair again. She was only five at the time, he continues, and she was already having concerns about her hair shes already having hair envy. I felt I needed to ...

enter.eckharttolletv.com A Q&A selection from the July 2009 EckhartTolleTV Issue Is the desire to take personal responsibility for things in life purely ego-based? In response to this important question from one of our members, Eckhart reminds us that it is our state of consciousness in any given moment that creates the world we see around us.
Everyone's had days when their hair just works, and at least as many days when it just won't fire. But what happens when Chris Rock tackles the subject of hair? We'll find out this October. When Chris Rock's daughter Lola came to him in tears one day and asked why she didn't have "good hair", the normally effusive Chris Rock was left speechless. So he packed up his camera crews and went in search of an answer to several questions, including where did she get the idea that she didn't have "good hair" in the first place. Check out the trailer. Whether or not you think this is a good idea for a movie, you will almost certainly learn something from it. For instance--India's biggest export? Human hair. That's just a taste--but do you even want to know more? Hit the comments section below and leave us a hair-raiser or two, and thanks for watching! www.goodhairmovie.net In Theaters This OCTOBER!!! Check out our Facebook page www.facebook.com When Chris Rocks daughter, Lola, came up to him crying and asked, Daddy, how come I don't have good hair? the bewildered comic committed himself to search the ends of the earth and the depths of black culture to find out who had put that question into his little girl's head! Director Jeff Stilsons camera followed the funnyman, and the result is Good Hair, a wonderfully insightful and entertaining, yet remarkably serious, documentary about African American hair culture. An exposé of comic proportions that only Chris Rock could pull off, Good Hair visits hair salons and styling battles, scientific laboratories, and Indian temples to explore the way black hairstyles impact the activities, pocketbooks, sexual relationships, and self-esteem of black people. Celebrities such as Ice-T, Kerry Washington, Nia Long, Paul Mooney, Raven Symoné, Maya Angelou, and Reverend Al Sharpton all candidly offer their stories and observations to Rock while he struggles with the task of figuring out how to respond to his daughters question. What he discovers is that black hair is a big business that doesnt always benefit the black community and little Lolas question might well be bigger than his ability to convince her that the stuff on top of her head is nowhere near as important as what is inside.
