Many important decisions were taken in the cabinet meeting in Maharashtra on Tuesday and the state govt has fixed the price of wheat, pulses, rice, sugar and oil to give relief to common man. It has also decided to slap life imprisonment for those are involved in food adulteration.
Maharashtra finally got a government on November 7 with the swearing-in of a 38-member Council of Ministers-led by Ashok Chavan, after more than two weeks of bitter wrangling over portfolios between the allies — Congress and NCP.
After intense negotiations, NCP and Congress have reached a broad understanding on the portfolio allocation which is likely to be sealed on November 6. This should put an end to the uncertainty that has prevailed since results were declared on October 22.
