On a day trip from Prague, we decided to visit the delightful Spa town of Karlovy Vary, which is situated 78.4 miles, (126 Kms) west of Prague, Czech Republic. Karlovy Vary is just 34 miles, (54.7 Kms) from the German Border and is a spa city situated in western Bohemia, Czech Republic, on the confluence of the rivers Ohře and Teplá, approximately 130 km (80.78 miles) west of Prague. It is named after King of Bohemia and Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV, who founded the city in 1370. It is historically famous for its hot springs (13 main springs, about 300 smaller springs, and the warm-water Teplá River). In the 19th century, it became a popular tourist destination, especially for international celebrities visiting for spa treatment. The city is also known for the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and the popular Czech liqueur Karlovarská Becherovka. The glass manufacturer Moser Glass is located in Carlsbad. The city has also given its name to the famous delicacy known as "Carlsbad plums". These plums (usually Quetsch) are candied in hot syrup, then halved and stuffed into dried damsons; this gives them a very intense flavour. The city has been used as the location for a number of film-shoots, including the 2006 films Last Holiday and box-office hit Casino Royale, both of which used the city's Grandhotel Pupp in different guises. Last Holiday is a 2006 American comedy film directed by Wayne Wang and starring Queen Latifah. The screenplay by Jeffrey Price and Peter S. Seaman is an updated, gender-reversed adaptation of the 1950 film of the same name written by JB Priestley. Latifah stars as Georgia Byrd, a reserved plus-sized woman who lives a dreary, ordinary life in pre-Katrina New Orleans, where she dreams of an elegant existence filled with fancy food, stylish clothing, and high-society parties. I can say WOW to the Grandhotel Pupp in Karlovy Vary. It was exciting to be there. Large suite with comfortable furnishing, beautiful food and very nice people. I heard of this hotel in a movie Last Holiday and after Casino Royale I knew we have to go to Karlovy Vary. Big recommendation!

This is a video montage of our trip to Prague, Karlow Vivary, and Krumlov in 2007. We stayed several nights in Prague at the intercontintal hotel, several nights in the grand pupp in Karlow Vivary (site of 007 casino royale casino scenes) and also visited Krumlov. We cruised through the country and hired a driver and bus/limo to take us around. Was definitely a nice trip and also had good business prospects for us. I hope you enjoy!
