(12-12-2009) Matt Flutur of Grand Valley State gets blindsided by Trent Covington of NW Missouri State on a punt return in the division II national championship game. The game was rather one-sided in the first half but Grand Valley came back strong in the second half and made it a very good game. After leading 21-0 at halftime, NW Missouri won 30-23.

The celebration that ensued as the Grand Valley State University Lakers guaranteed themselves a position in the December 12th Division 2 National Championship game in Florence Alabama by dominating over Carson-Newman.
Demonte Collins was a standout receiver at Muskegon High School and earned a scholarship to Grand Valley State. As a redshirt freshman in 2004, he had a sensational season, racking up more than 1000 yards receiving and 13 touchdowns.
