Wine has a rich history dating back to around 6000 BC and is thought to have originated in areas now within the borders of Georgia. Wine probably appeared in Europe at about 4500 BC in what is now Bulgaria, and Greece, and was very common in ancient Greece, Thrace and Rome. Wine has also played an important role in religion throughout history. The Greek god Dionysus and the Roman equivalent Bacchus represented wine, and the drink is also used in Catholic Eucharist ceremonies and the Jewish Kiddush. tinyurl.com Still drunk, Andy chases the pig through the woods and stumbles upon Maryann's orgy. He fires his pistol, partially breaking the trance Maryann has induced, giving Sam the opportunity to escape. Andy breaks up the orgy and his arm is broken by Terry, who is still under Maryann's influence. In the basement of the LODI, Sookie realizes someone must have tipped off the Fellowship about their mission. While at the hotel, Lorena will still not allow Bill to go to Sookie's rescue. Flashbacks show Bill tired of killing innocents, and he asks to be released from Lorena. She reluctantly complies after he threatens to stake himself. Outside the church, Eric asks Isabel what she likes about being with a human. She says it is because their mortality makes everything exciting, but it is a sort of "science experiment" to see Hugo age. Isabel accuses Eric of coveting Sookie, which he denies. Jason convinces Sarah not to tell her husband about their affair and she agrees to wait. Hoyt and Jessica decide to be each other's first time. Stan confronts Eric about not dealing with the Fellowship more directly, and Eric accuses him of murdering Godric to claim his place as Sheriff. The next morning, Tara and Eggs wake up on Sookie's couch and neither can remember how they got there. As Steve and Gabe interrogate Sookie, a claustrophobic Hugo desperately reveals that her last name is Stackhouse. Deciding that Jason must be a vampire sympathizer, Steve tells Gabe to take care of it ...
Daemonia Nymphe - Hymn to Bacchus Dionysus, the Greek god of wine and intoxication, known as Bacchus to Romans. Dionysus or Dionysos, Greek: Διόνυσος or Διώνυσος, is the ancient Greek god of wine, wine cups, wineskin, grapes, theater, and fertility. The god who inspires ritual madness, joyful worship, and ecstasy, carnivals, celebration and a major figure of Greek mythology. He is included as one of the twelve Olympians in some lists. Dionysus is typical of the god of the epiphany, "the god that comes". He was also known as Bacchus, the name adopted by the Romans and the frenzy he induces, bakkheia. In addition to winemaking, he is the patron deity of agriculture and the theater. Hailed as an Asiatic foreigner, he was thought to have had strong ties to the East and to Ethiopia in the South. He was also known as the Liberator (Eleutherios), freeing one from one's normal self, by madness, ecstasy or wine. The divine mission of Dionysus was to mingle the music of the aulos and to bring an end to care and worry. Scholars have discussed Dionysus' relationship to the "cult of the souls" and his ability to preside over communication between the living and the dead. In Greek mythology, Dionysus is made out to be a son of Zeus and the mortal Semele. He is described as being womanly or "man-womanish". The retinue of Dionysus was called the thiasus and was comprised chiefly of maenads and satyrs. Dionysus is a god of mystery religious rites. One of the most famous mystery religions ...

Dionysus was the Greek God of Wine, Joy and Theatre and a Lover of Peace Family of Dionysus Personality and Style of Dionysus Appearance and Sacred Symbols Dionysus photo gallery Family of Dionysus Dionysus was born in Thebes as the son of Zeus, the King of the Gods and the beautiful princess Semele. Because of his mortal mother, his birthplace Thebes refused to acknowledge him as an immortal at first. Personality and Style of Dionysus Dionysus was a god known for his lightheartness and always offered his help to anyone in need. He was therefore very popular among gods and mortals and many festivals were being held every year in his honor. Nevertheless, Dionysus was many times misunderstood. Dionysus was one of the Olympian gods who actually did not live in Mount Olympus but was constantly travelling around the world together with Satyrs and Maenads in order to discover the secrets of winemaking. Appearance and Sacred Symbols A handsome young man with impressive hair (usually tresses falling below his shoulders) and a wreath of ivy on his head. In his hand he was holding a "thyrsos", which was a light staff wrapped with leaves of ivy and a pine cone on its top. The sacred animal of Dionysos was the panther. The Roman name of Dionysus is "Bacchus"

A woman speaks of the Ancient Greek Story of the Dolphin's Origin and Creation.
Hedera, or Ivy is one of my favorite plants. Ivy has along history of use. It was viewed as being sacred to Dionysus, the Greek god of wine and ectacy, and was used to crown poets. Ivy is an everygreen, and as such was once used in Christmas decorations, although it's use today as such is rather limited. How To Grow Your Own Ivy Plants Via Ivy Cuttings Items Needed: Vase or container of water Scissors that you have disinfected (Alcohol/Peroxide or Soap & Water) Mother Plant (Ivy Plant From Which You Will Take Cuttings) Step 1: Find a mother plant. If the mother plant is growing on someone's property, make sure to obtain permission before taking cuttings. Step 2: Select a nice runner (ivy stem). Step 3: Cut the runner with scissors and take the plant home. Step 4: Cut the runner into pieces 3-4 inches long, depending on the size of your container. Try to cut right below the spot where rootlets will develop. Step 5. Strip the lower portion of the stem of leaves. Otherwise, if a leav remains underwater it will decompose and bacteria could kill the cutting. Step 6: Wait 2-3 months. In that time small roots will develop. Step 7: When rootlets are 2-3 inches long, transplant the cutting to it's own pot with soil or plant in your garden. Try to avoid full sun so as to give the cutting a chance to develop a root system. Tips: For best results take cutting during the Spring and Summer, when the plant is actively growing. For an easy Christmas centerpiece, arrange ivy cuttings in a vase and wrap the vase with a red bow. Warning: Ivy can be an intrusive plant, so please be responsible. If you plant ivy in your garden or property, please watch it so that it doesn't escape into the wild or your neighbor's property. If by chance you need to kill an established ivy plant you must cut the main stem. The main stem can easilby be identified in mature plants because it is a woody stem and can approach the size of small tree branches! Cut the main stem as close to the ground as possible in order to kill the entire plant. Although ivy growing on houses is pretty, it is also destructive. Ivy growing on a house will eventually weaken and disentegrate the walls upon which it grows. A safe use of ivy is that of an ivy screen. Ivy can be trained to grow on a trellis and can provide an excellent screen, shielding a porch or patio from the hot Summer sun or else provide a bit more privacy to a chosen spot. In this way an ivy screen is an attractive alternative to a fence. Ivy also makes an excellent houseplant. Just makes sure that your potted ivy recieves enough sunlight and your plant will thrive.
