Greg Morteson has no followers yet. Be the first one to follow.
Appaloosa is supposed to be about a two men coming to a town that is overrun by Randall Braggs (played by Jeremy Irons) gang of outlaws. Virgil Cole (played by Ed Harris) & Everett Hitch (played by Viggo Mortenson) offer to help the town if they are allowed to be given the titles of town marshal & deputy. Along the way, Virgil Cole falls in love with the character Allison French (played by Renée Zellweger) who is not a prostitute but sure acts like one. This movie is a horrible mess because the characters and script are so poorly written, the audience will have trouble trying to care for any of the characters. I found myself really disliking Ed Harris's character Virgil Cole because he was supposed to fly off the handle and be somewhat uncontrollable (or so we are led to believe) but only does so once when punching a patron of a bar for no reason. He's also unlikeable in the respect that he "loves" a women who is by all respects a VERY loose woman who would probably hump the ground if there were no guys around. Another problem with this movie is that the music made no sense and did not belong in a western movie at all. I caught myself listening to 1950's detective music in one scene and new country music at the credits. I give this movie two thumbs down for being the worst western movie I have yet to see in my twenty years on this planet and I know that this movie does not deserve the 7.0/10 that it got on IMDB. IMDB Rating: 7.10 (but does not deserve it at all).
