As we follow Winston Smith through his rebellion, imprisonment, torture, and reeducation, we witness firsthand the worst crime we can inflict upon ourselves and others: the destruction of the truths and freedoms that make us who we are." - back cover

Gregory Maguire Wicked: Życie i czasy Złej Czarownicy z Zachodu. Wicked opowiada o miejscu, gdzie zwierzęta mówią i walczą o swoje prawa obywatelskie, gdzie Manczkinowie starają się wejść do klasy średniej, a Blaszany Drwal pada ofiarą przemocy w rodzinie.
My friend, Threestoogesfan2, and I were talking about the political aspects of Wicked and it could bring peace to the world. Long story short, that snowballed into an analogy comparing the war on Iraq and Afghanistan to Wicked. The Wizard - George Bush Madame Morrible - Dick Cheney Elphaba - Norman Mineta Glinda - Barack Obama Ozma - Saddam Hussein Kansas - USA Oz - Iraq Emerald City - Afghanistan The was purely a satirical analogy no offense was intended toward any of the people shown in ths video nor the viewers

Wicked is a Tony Award-winning Broadway and West End musical, with songs and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and book by Winnie Holzman. The story is based on the best-selling novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire, a parallel novel of L. Frank Baum's classic story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz from the perspective of the witches of the Land of Oz. Wicked tells the story of Elphaba, the future Wicked Witch of the West and her relationship with Glinda, the Good Witch of the North. (In the album notes, Gregory Maguire explained that he derived the name "Elphaba" from the initials of L. Frank Baum.) Their friendship struggles through their opposing personalities and viewpoints, rivalry over the same love-interest, their reactions to the Wizard's corrupt government, and, ultimately, Elphaba's public fall from grace. The plot is set mostly before Dorothy's arrival from Kansas, and includes several references to well-known scenes and dialogue in the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz as a backstory. The musical debuted on Broadway on October 30, 2003. It was produced by Universal Pictures and directed by Joe Mantello, with musical staging by Wayne Cilento.
