These raw mangoes were directly brought from the farm an then Ethylene gas was sprayed on them which ripens the mangoes just within 10 hours. But effect of gas stays in mangoes which creates skin cancer, gastric problems and leads to the problem of swollen intestines.
Health official sealed various godowns that use carbide and gas in order to ripen the mangoes. But the businessmen claim license has been grated to them from Delhi permitting the usage of gas.
Generally the mangoes are treated with carbide but a new way has come up in which mangoes are treated into machines having natural gas called ethylene. Mangoes treated in this manner are more healthy than that treated with carbide. Hence these mangoes are a bit expensive than the other mangoes. The process is undertaken in Kamrej near navsari.
