LONDON (Reuters) - Ingrid Pitt, seductive queen of the Hammer horror films who survived a Nazi concentration camp as a girl, has died aged 73, a spokesman for her agent said on Wednesday. The actress started her screen career in the mid-1960s with roles in Spanish films and minor, uncredited parts in "Doctor Zhivago" and "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum." She appeared in the 1968 classic "Where Eagles Dare" alongside Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood, and five years later in the mystery drama "The Wicker Man." But it was for her roles in erotic horror films "The Vampire Lovers" (1970) and "Countess Dracula" (1971) that she was best known in Britain. "Underrated as both an actress and a writer, Pitt was a warm but stubbornly enigmatic figure," said Marcus Hearn, a historian of Hammer horror movies and a friend of the actress. Pitt was also a writer, producing two novels set during the Peron era in Argentina and several horror-related works of fiction. She was born in Poland in 1937 to a mother of Jewish descent, and was interned in a Nazi concentration camp during World War Two at the age of five -- an experience she recounted in her autobiography "Life's a Scream." She told an interviewer in 2006 that she did not particularly enjoy watching horror movies. "I was in a concentration camp as a child and I don't want to see horror," Pitt said. "I think it's very amazing that I do horror films when I had this awful childhood. But maybe that's why I'm good at it ...

Part 1 (No copyright intended) of this fascinating Hammer film and one my all-time favorite Cushing films. Heres more about the film: The Abominable Snowman (aka The Abominable Snowman of the Himalayas) is a 1957 British horror film, directed by Val Guest and starring Forrest Tucker and Peter Cushing. The film is based on The Creature, a BBC Television play by writer Nigel Kneale, and follows the exploits of an English anthropologist with an American expedition as they search the Himalayas for the legendary Yeti. Kneale adapted his own television script into the film screenplay. Cushing, along with several other members of the cast, had also starred in the original version (the role of Tom Friend in the television play was taken by Stanley Baker). The film was produced by Hammer Film Productions and released on August 26, 1957 in the UK. It was subsequently released in the United States and throughout the world. Wikipedia
Director - Freddie Francis, Screenplay - John Elder [Anthony Hinds], Producer - Hinds, Photography - John Wilcox, Music - Don Banks, Special Effects - Les Bowie, Makeup - Roy Ashton, Art Direction - Don Mingaye. Production Company - Hammer. 1964. Cast: Peter Cushing (Baron Frankenstein), Peter Woodthorpe (Zoltan), Sandor Eles (Hans), Kiwi Kingston (The Monster), Katy Wild (Rena) Forced to flee when he is discovered performing an unholy experiment on a still warm corpse which was brought to him by a body-snatcher, Baron Frankenstein and his assistant, Hans, are able to escape to the Barons old castle, high in the mountains of Karlstaad. The castle is a shamble, and Frankenstein explains that it was wontanly wrecked by outraged villagers who had stormed the castle and pillaged it when they found out the Baron had created a living being--an uneartly creature--out of pieces of other beings. The creature, however, had managed to escape, only to die in the bitter cold of the mountain snows. To cheer themselves up, Frankenstein and Hans decide to attend a carnival in town. Although they are heavily disguised, the Baron gives himself away, and they are almost arrested, but they manage to escape by dodging into the tent of The Great Zoltan, a mystical hypnotist. Afraid to return to the castle, Frankenstein and Hans make their way deep into the mountains, where they meet a deaf-and-dumb beggar girl who befriends them. A violent storm threatens, and the girl beckons them into the ...

This was one of the last masterpieces from Hammer Films of England. I love those foggy suspenseful night street scenes from movies like this. There was another good one in Dr.Jekyll and Sister Hyde. Here Anna, the daughter of Jack The Ripper, is being treated by a psychiatrist, but he can't control her. This is ~50 minutes into the film. Consider this a preview to promote purchase or rental. This film is not common, probably too strong for television, but well worth it for mature audiences. Just judging by title or cover people might assume it's a cheap slasher film. Hammer needs to be known.
Ra-Antef, an Egyptian Pharoah, is murdered by his brother during his reign in ancient Egypt. The pharoah is then mummified and buried with a medallion which supposedly contains the secret of immortality. Centuries later the tomb of Ra-Antef is violated despite the warnings of a loyal follower named Hashim Bey. Naturally all those involved with the opening of the mummys tomb must die as Ra-Antef prowls the misty streets of London. Alexander King, an obnoxious, wisecracking American showman, acquires the possesions of the mummy in hopes of showing them for profit in Europe and the United States. King unveils the mummy case and the curse that Ra-Antef will return to life is the tomb is desecrated, only to find it already empty. Later, King meets his death when he encounters the mummy at the top of a flight of stairs in the foggy London night. Presently the mummy kills Sir Giles Dalrymple, one of the members of the expedition which uncovered his tomb. Ra-Antef presses the man against the top of his desk, and then crushes his head with a heavy statuette. Finally realizing that a living mummy is at large, the authorities set a trap for him. Ra-Antef is caught in a net until he tears himself loose with superhuman strength. Hashim Bey places his head before the mummys feet and begs to be punished for his sin of betrayal, and the mummy obliges by placing his foot on his servants head and crushing it. Soon we learn that Adam Beauchamp, who had befriended the members of the ...
É o jovem soldado Tenente Imre Toth (Sandor Elès), filho do General Toth, um grande amigo do Conde Nadasdy durante a guerra.

uranium-cafe.com Dracula Has Risen From The Grave Author JoeKarlosi from USA One of the best of the Hammer Dracula series, with Christopher Lee in commanding form as the nefarious bloodsucker. Coming in directly on the heels of "Dracula, Prince of Darkness (1966)," the King of Vampires is accidentally resurrected by a young priest and then conveniently makes a servant out of him. Lee angrily seeks revenge on the monsignor of the church (a good job by Rupert Davies) and pursues the Man of God's attractive niece (Veronica Carlson in her first of a few Hammer parts) as a means of evening the score. Dracula's scripted motivation for his revenge in this chapter seems a bit forced, but what really sets this entry apart from some of the others for me is the visage of religion hovering over the battle between good and evil. Here, the story centers on a young man named Paul, who is romancing the monsignor's niece but who is himself an atheist, and as such has more of a struggle not only in appeasing his girl's fundamentalist uncle, but also falters when it comes to satisfactorily dealing with the threat of Dracula himself; in the film's best scene (and one of Hammer's all-time finest), Paul tries to put an end to the Count but is unable to finish the job due to his religious convictions. I must put in a good word for director Freddie Francis here, who usually gets overlooked in the shadow of the more acclaimed Terence Fisher. Francis does an exceptional job rendering his story ...
