...Mista Grimm - "Indo Smoke" Hip-hop in the early 90's was chock-full of marijuana anthems, and no list would be complete without one of its best. With Warren G and Nate Dogg in the mix, Mista Grimm's "Indo Smoke" stood out in 1993, even as a "one-hit" wonder....

The Original Soul Sector 1998 Demo - Real Hip Hop Freestyle Dance. San Francisco / Oakland, California In this video: Mikey Disko, Kwaze, Stevie, Ron, Chandra, Jorgie, Ceasar, Jimmy, AONE, and Perayd Bit of background: Soul Sector established it's name in 1998 when Mikey Disko assembled 3 different groups of friends that have been dancing since the early 90's to form a new Bay Area hip hop dance group. The original focus of the group was to cypher..period. Soul Sector was just a group of hip hop heads that wanted to dance and represent that street style from the early 90's that was dying out. Soul Sector's style was influenced by hip hop social dances, NYC groups such as the Mop Tops (Elite Force), and a mix of all the street dances and club culture of that era. Video: This video was edited at the end of 1998 by Jesse Drew & Mikey Disko. It is a mix of random footage that we shot between 1997-98. The songs are Work The Angles / WhenImondamic / Battle Drill. We used hip hop songs from the West Coast that we felt represented our style. After the Video: After we released this video, most of the original members disbanded and moved on to other things. The group started to venture into more than just repping in cyphers. We started to travel and have performances which deviated from the original focus of the group. Mikey Disko, Kwaze, Ron, & Stevie maintained the group until there were new members in 2000 Cricket, Jardy, Rhenjay. Ron came back for a short stint in 2002. (Soul ...

More of the best songs from the greatest decade of hip hop; the 1990's. This was back when hip hop was real and true and not like today where most of the songs are about clubbin', girls, cars, bling bling, or dancing or none of that fake stuff. My Family's Band in Las Vegas: DL5 existed since the 70's in which we used to start it as a family's band playing in clubs, dance halls and other occasions in the South Pacific. But now new generation of the family is taking the music to a higher level than the Old-Skool stuffs of the the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's that we used to play, and they are very successful in doing so. DL5 shows why they are one of the most exciting up and coming bands. Seamlessly fusing an array of musical genres into one cohesive sound, this band truly has something for everyone. Their eclectic sound has been a collection of some 20+ years as musicians playing all kinds of music, with their musicianship it wasn't hard for them to change from playing Cover music to writing and producing their own songs, with in 10 months they have written and recorded 60 songs 15 more songs are lined up on their menu, they work together as a band from writing to recording instrument tracks. Their music is a mosaic collection of songs that embraces a variety of styles and emotions. There are catchy soulful melodies, tender love songs, soulful boasting from all the music they write. "Giv it all up" with 18 original songs on it, Every song is touched with meaningful words and rich musicianship. The overall variety of this Album shows the depth of the band as well as the talent to have the ability to make it all work together so well in just one year this band means business.DL5 was formed in early 2004, but the ...

Words and environment impact your life. This is speech #2 from the advanced Toastmasters Manual: The Entertaining Speaker. The project is called "Resources for Entertainment". In the speech I outline a musical anthology of my life starting in childhood with weekly immersion in Soul Train, moving to age 11 and the purchase of Songs in the Key of Life by Stevie Wonder. In 1979 it was Rappers Delight by Sugar Hill Gang then in the 90's it was People's Instinctive Travels and Paths of Rhythm by A Tribe Called Quest. In between was a lot of fun in the punk rock scene. Songs mentioned an sung: California Uberalles and Police Truck by The Dead Kennedys. I finished up with my theme song: Galvanize by The Chemical Brothers with Q-Tip on vocals.

It was ranked as the 81st greatest rap song of all time by About.com and number 77 on vh1's 100 Greatest Songs of the 90s. In 2008, it was ranked number 28 on vh1's 100 greatest songs of hip hop.
