This video was created in 2005 as a project for the Educational Technology program at CSU San Bernardino. The class created composite imagery to which I added to movie make and Billy Joel's 'We Didn't Start the Fire'. After the video, the user would be able to click a link that would bring them to a website with details information about the different moments in history identified in the classic song.

PBS has many resources online designed for assisting teachers in developing lesson plans or curriculum units and for guiding students in understanding complex topics in history, economics, and the sciences. Zonebee toolbar could be customized to draw directly from the vast online resources at PBS.org in order to bring learners that much closer to the source for learning. The theory behind Zonebee is that it is not enough to find interesting or relevant material. Learners, whether experts or novices, need to have tools that build their ICT (Internet and Computer Technology) literacy while they learn, to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of their learning practices online, and to help manage and share the resources they find - whether in pursuit of goals defined by formal learning contexts or for informal learning. Teachers can use Zonebee to Trails to model how to conduct online research, to develop instructional planning materials to share with colleagues, and develop databanks of "best practices" for finding and managing highly relevant materials aligned with education standards. By making the management of learning the central focus, Zonebee generates a mirror through which students can see how they learn, follow the teacher's example of how to conduct online research and pick up where they left off. Zonebee also enables teachers to monitor student learning processes and practices, to make sure they do not move too far afield of the learning goal, and to provide ...

This project explains through a timeline the history connecting instructional media including methods of design and technology. The purpose is purely for learning in the academic environment and for overall training purposes.
This is a visual summary of the Robert Reiser's paper entitled "A History of Instructional Design and Technology: Part 1: A History of Instructional Media" that was published by Educational Technology, Research and Development in 2001. This video was created with Timeline3D and iMovie09. The background song is "Shooting Star" by Bittybox.

This is a shortened version of the actual video, due to the ten minute limit on YouTube. The video explores the state of technology in the San Antonio ISD through interviews with members of that organization. It also considers analysis of obsolete and emerging technologies, specifically the Laser Disk Player and the DVD Player.
American education was born in private schools (most of which were held in churches) and is, in reality, a parental responsibility. During the past few generations, this responsibility has been relinquished to the state. As a result, our public educational system has become secularized and materialistic in nature and in generally inconsistent with a biblical philosophy of life. We have long had a vision of establishing a biblically based school to meet the educational and moral needs of our children and provide an environment that is safe and provides a spiritual academic atmosphere. Our dreams have led us to a program of learning based on high technology; biblical philosophy; individually prescribed, self-instructional curriculum; and an advanced system of motivated learning. This educational program is designed to be cost efficient, to provide education at least equal, if not superior to, that of public education. New Life Christian Academy's mission is to give each student a solid education foundation. Upon graduation from the Academy, all of our students will be able to enter into the college environment on or above grade level. As parents and educators, we pledge to teach the children in a Christian atmosphere, training them in God's Word. By using our unique curriculum, our school allows the parents to have more control over their children's education and extra-curricular activities, thus promoting the family unit. Our goal at all times is to lift up God and open ...

As part of my Perspective on Information Technology course we were assigned to create an instructional video that explains the process of a topic of our choice. Thinking outside the box, I chose to call upon my education and experience in meteorology and political science in order to produce this broadcast on the effect of weather on voter turnout. Its done in the style of a standard weathercast like one would expect to see on the news but focuses on how the conditions that day could impact the election. To add a twist however, its been filmed in July to provide a summer weather pattern around the nation; and a comparison to the actual fall conditions that the election was held in can be found in the accompanying pamphlet. The video is based on the 2008 election between Democratic Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois and Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona. To achieve a control, Ive kept all other factors the same, meaning I assumed that polls, the general publics views of the candidates, the important issues, etc. were the same as on the actual election day, and ignored exit polling data that was analyzed to find non-weather related anomalies after the fact. As you will see in the video and the pamphlet, weather does play a roll in elections and can essentially affect the history and direction of our nation.
In the near future, longer-lasting batteries could run on virtually anything sugary, including tree sap or flat soda pop. Scientists say these sweet new batteries could operate three to four times longer than the conventional lithium ion batteries commonly used in cell phones, laptops, MP3 players and many other portable electronic devices. And they are biodegradable. "By bridging biology and chemistry, we can build a better battery that's also cleaner for the environment," researcher Shelley Minteer, an electrochemist at Saint Louis University in Missouri, said in a prepared statement. Sugar is used as fuel by all living things. Now Minteer and her colleagues have adapted enzymes from nature that can strip charges from sugar to generate electricity in fuel cells. Like all fuel cells, the new device combines fuel—in this case, sugar—with air to generate electricity and water as the main byproducts. Unlike other fuel cells, all the materials used to build the sugary device are biodegradable. The key ingredient making up the new device is the charge-stripping enzyme. The scientists incorporated this enzyme into membranes composed of chitosan, a commercial compound derived from crabs, shrimp and other crustaceans. These membranes are then integrated into fuel cells. Minteer and her colleagues have developed a small prototype battery about the size of a postage stamp to successfully run a handheld calculator, findings they presented today at the American Chemical Society ...

Here's the final version of my digital story telling about John Wesley's spiritual journey, which culminated in one of the most celebrated conversion experiences in church history ~ his "Aldersgate" experience. Over a dozen Christian denominations today consider him to be a spiritual father, and it's only because of this life-transforming experience of his, early in his ministry, that we know about him. In this story, find out the "secret to his success." I created this for a "Digital Storytelling" class at Emporia State University in the "Instructional Design & Technology" graduate studies program and this is the final version I turned in for a grade. However, multimedia projects are never really "done" ~ I'm sure there's more I can improve, so I welcome feedback and suggestions (only the most usefuly will be published, however).
