This song is about the feelings of a girl- personifying herself as a bird, calls herself as a fool, being in passionate love with a man who she feels is flirting with her. Each word in this subtle poem has very deep meanings. PANCHI (The Bird) is portrayal of a Girl (Madhubala) who is in deep love and has suspicions about her Love. CHAND (The Moon) is depiction of her Love (Dilip Kumar) who is handsome, rich and lives far-away from her village and leaves her in a state of dejection.. The song goes like this: Panchi bawara chand se preet lagaye........................... The foolish bird is in (deep) love with the moon (who is far away) Chhaya dekh nadi mein murakh, phoola nahi samaye.......... The stupid (bird) seeing the shadow of the moon in the river, (thinking the moon has come to meet her) is overjoyed. Woh harjayi taron ke sang apni raas rachaye.................... The Flirt (moon) is dancing around with the stars. Chand se preet lagaye....................(She) in (deep) love with the moon Kaun bataye tujhe chakora, gorey mann ke kaaley................. Who would tell you- the bird, the beautiful are black at heart. (The moon has black spots). Jyun jyun preet badaye ga tu, toon toon woh ghatt jaye....... The more you love him, the more his love will decrease (the moon recedes) Chand se preet lagaye.................... (She) in (deep) love with the moon singer : Kurshid Begum movie : Bhaghat Surdas (1942). music : Gyan Dutt. lyrics : Dina Nath Modak. This song is ...

Super Hit movie Namak Haraam (1973) (with subtitles) starring Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha, Asrani, Raza Murad, AKHangal. Music : RDBurman, Director : Hrishikesh Mukherjee Synopsis: Told in flashback, this engrossing drama champions grass-roots socialism, disguised as a male-bonding tale of two friends -- one of whom finds work in a factory owned by the other. The storyline leads into misunderstandings between the two friends caused by their boss-employee relationship. Rare Khanna/Bachchan joint appearance added interest to the film. The confrontation between the friends coupled with a powerful performance from Bachchan is the highlight of this movie. This is the movie, in which Amitabh is said to have taken over the superstar mantle from Rajesh Khanna. This movie signalled the end of the Khanna era and the beginning of the long Bachchan era. The movie personified the angry young man image of Bachchan.

Song practiced with my students and dedicated to my kumu, Oliana Lutu-Topley (dedicated from her daughter, Ruta--to her). I will always think of them when I hear this song. History of this ancient chant: "Waika is taken from the ancient chant "Hole Waimea", a name song for Kamehameha I, inherited by his son, Liholiho. This is the tale of the Kipu`upu`u, a band of runners whose name was taken from Waimea`s pelting rain. Malanai is the gentle breeze. They were to be trained in spear fighting and went to Mahiki in Waimea, a woodland haunted by demons and spooks. There they would hole (strip), the bark of saplings to make spears. Hole also means to handle roughly or caress passionately. In the forest they sang of love, not of work or war. Pua o Koai`e is the fragrant blossom of the Koai`e tree that grows in the wild, and is an euphemism for the delicate parts of the body. Ko`olau is a contraction for the yellow flower or yellow eye (maka lena) of the ko`oko`olau plant, used to brew tea. Mo`olau and hulilau (slang) is used figuratively for a woman's breasts. Pololo is a combination of 2 words: po (night) and loloa (long), with the last "a" dropped. This form of speech is called kepakepa. Ulumano is a violent wind that blows in the night on the western side of Hawai`i. Kamehameha I's troops were wrecked by this wind off Nawawa. There, a whole village was burned to light the way to the shore. A`e is a violent wind that blows from different points in succession, or a circular ...

Phoolrenu lives in Kashipur with her widowed mom, and younger brother, Ramesh. She teaches Chemistry in distant Roop Narayan Girls' College, where because of her unfriendly and cold disposition she has been nicknamed 'carbon dioxide'. It is here that she meets the new Sanskrit Lecturer, Swarnkamal, who instantly falls head-over-heels in love with her, while she openly detests him; his manner of teaching Sanskrit; the teachings of Maha-Kavi Kali-Das; the romance between Lord Shankar and Devi Parvati; and the love poems that are having a detrimental effect on the entire female student body. Swarnkamal's overtures towards her, especially during the festival of color, Holi; then his asking her to be his Shakuntala during a play; his visit to Kashipur, amongst others, appear to bear no fruit. It is then he learns that he does have a place in her heart, but wants him to go through proper channels by responding to her matrimonial advertisement in a newspaper. Everything appears to be going well, but comical chaos reigns as Phoolrenu finds that she is to get married to a College Lecturer by the name of Gopalkrishan Choudhry! Watch as events unfold to reveal how Phoolrenu ended up picking Gopalkrishan as her groom.

Butea monosperma is a species of Butea native to tropical southern Asia, from Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, and western Indonesia.[1] Common names include Kingshuk, Palash, Dhak, Flame of the Forest, Bastard Teak, Parrot Tree and Kesudo (Gujurati). It is used for timber, resin, fodder, medicine, and dye. The gum from the tree, called kamarkas in Hindi, is used in certain food dishes. The gum is also known as Bengal Kino, and is considered valuable by druggists because of its astringent qualities, and by leather workers because of its tannin. In West Bengal it is associated with Spring (season), especially through the poems and songs of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore, who likened its bright orange flame-like flower to fire. In Santiniketan, where Tagore lived, this flower has become an indispensable part of the celebration of spring. The plant has lent its name to the town of Palashi, famous for the historic Battle of Plassey fought there. It is said that the tree is a form of Agnidev, God of Fire. It was a punishment given to Him by Goddess Parvati for disturbing Her and Lord Shiva's privacy. In the Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh these flowers are specially used in the worship of Lord Shiva on occasion of Shivratri. In Telugu this tree is called Modugu chettu. In Kerala this is called 'plasu' and 'chamata'. Chamata is the vernacular version of Sanskrit word 'Samidha', small piece of wood that ...

Lata Mangeshkar sings Meerabai bhajan. Music by Hridaynath Mangeshkar
This song has been created based off a famous poem by BB Borkar. It describes the gopis getting drenched in the rain, awating eargerly to see Krishna. They can hear his flute but cannot see him. The poem has a deeper message of unity and diversity amongst all of us. We need to all learn to live together.
The music of "O Holy Night" was composed by Adolphe Adam in 1847 and was set to the French poem "Minuit, Chretiens" (translated Midnight, Christians) written by Placide Cappeau. Nat recorded this on July 7, 1960 for his Christmas album.

Navrang: A Riot of Colors Dinesh Raheja V Shantaram's colourful Navrang [1959], marked a hat-trick of successes, coming on the heels of the super successful musical Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baaje [1955], and the tale of prisoner reform Do Aankhen Barah Haath [1957]. Navrang begins with a direct communique by a director to his audience. In his brief but telling address, Shantaram lends credence to the rumours that he nearly lost his sight in an accident on the sets of his last venture, Do Aankhen Barah Haath. An eternal optimist, Shantaram reveals that during that temporary blindness, he saw some hitherto unseen colours of life. The riotously colourful Navrang is the creative realisation of that experience. The film's performances border on the theatrical and its sets are pastry pink. Yet Navrang is a must see thanks to its unusual thematic premise and C Ramchandra's unforgettable score set to Bharat Vyas' lyrics. O HOLY NIGHT (LYRICS) O holy night, The stars are brightly shining; It is the night of Our dear Savior's birth! Long lay the world In sin and error pining, Till He appeared And the soul felt its worth. A thrill of hope, The weary world rejoices, For yonder breaks A new and glorious morn. Fall on your knees, O hear the angel voices! O night divine, O night when Christ was born! O night divine, O night, O night divine! Led by the light of Faith Serenely beaming, With glowing hearts By His cradle we stand. So led by light of a star Sweetly gleaming, Here came the wise men From Orient land. The King of Kings lay thus In lowly manger, In all our trials Born to be our Friend! He knows our need, To our weakness no stranger; "O Holy Night" is a well-known Christmas carol song composed by Adolphe Adam in 1847 to the French poem "Minuit, chrétiens" by Placide Cappeau, an accomplished amateur. Placide Cappeau obliged and wrote the beautiful words of the hymn. He then realised that it should have music to accompany the words and he approached his friend Adolphe Charles Adams(1803-1856). He agreed and the music for the poem was therefore composed by Adolphe Charles Adams. Source: www.christmas-lyrics.org

This video with lyrics added is for education purposes. O HOLY NIGHT. The words and lyrics of the old carol 'O Holy Night' were written by Placide Cappeau de Roquemaure in 1847. Cappeau was a wine seller by trade but was asked by the parish priest to write a poem for Christmas. He obliged and wrote the beautiful words of the hymn. He then realised that it should have music to accompany the words and he approached his friend Adolphe Charles Adams(1803-1856). He agreed and the music for the poem was therefore composed by Adolphe Charles Adams. Adolphe had attended the Paris conservatoire and forged a brilliant career as a composer. It was translated into English by John Sullivan Dwight (1812-1893). Thanks to www.carols.org.uk for the lyrics. Enjoy all..
