Led by a pair of fearless pioneers on August 21st 2010, Damon & Lisa D'Amico of D'Amico Dance, hundreds of followers descended upon an unsuspecting Mall, Memorial City Mall, that is... With music in full swing, some of the best West Coast Swing dancers in Houston took the stage... Houston will never be the same. They quickly came together, for just a few minutes... they rocked the house to the amazement of on-lookers and just as it started they quickly disbanded, like the spell'd been broken... but we all know that we've only just begun. In Dcember 2007, a Houston homeowner was awakened by a loud noise. Suspecting foul play, he sent his wife and young children to shelter and retrieved his handgun. Upon entering his bedroom, he spied a suspect crawling through the window and fired several shots. The suspect, whom other reports indicate was a repeat offender with multiple felonies, died at the scene. Their name, Geto Boys, comes from a deliberate misspelling of the word Ghetto. For both their first album 5th Ward Chronicles: Making Trouble (1988) and their second album, Grip It! On That Other Level (1989), the spelling was "Ghetto Boys", according to standard English spelling rules. For their third album, The Geto Boys, they changed it to the "Geto" spelling, which they still use today. According to an urban legend, the "Geto" spelling originated from a spray-painted street sign in North Houston (the sign has long since been replaced), along with graffiti written within the restroom walls at Willowridge High School in Missouri City, Texas during the late 1980s.
