New Bedford fishing captain describes the offshore fishery for clams. The commercially processed clam industry makes use of two species of clams, both found in the deep waters of the Atlantic Ocean. The first clam species is the "Surf" or "Sea Clam" (Spissula solidissima). The second variety is the "Ocean Clam" or "Ocean Quahog" (Arctica islandica). While the Ocean Clams may look like similar to the New England Chowder Clams (Mercenaria mercenaria) and even share the nickname "Quahog", they are totally different species. Currently there are approximately 2.565 million bushels of Sea Clams, and approximately 4.2 million bushels of Ocean Clams harvested annually. Visit the Aquatic Network at www.aquanet.com for more fisheries information.

Many believe that huge unidentified monsters lurk in the world's oceans and waterways. Do remnants of the dinosaur age still exist, and is this what people are seeing off the coast of Wales in Britain and in San Francisco Bay in the USA? The Animal X - Natural Mystery Unit is on the hunt for Monsters of the Deep. Daniel and Natalie talk with eyewitnesses who have videotaped a pod of huge sea serpents. We have the videotape analyzed by an expert who says the tape is not a fake and the monsters are real. So much of the ocean is still unexplored. Could there be large species we are yet to discover? Scientists answer 'yes - it's most likely', and they've even recorded sounds from the depths of the ocean that they can't explain. Have you heard of the Bloop? It's the sound of a huge underwater creature and is the biggest mystery in the ocean today. Could it be the sea monster people have been talking about? They meet the scientists from NOAA a US government agency. Scientists here say the biggest threat to any species in the ocean is over fishing. It's time for Daniel and Natalie to slip on their wetsuits and scuba gear and go exploring the big blue. Join them as they dive to 'Aquarius', the only inner-space station in the depths of the Atlantic Ocean, searching for answers.
The guy who captured the crab was explaining how deep the water is. You can see my brother in law Bobby, my nephew Anthony, and my daughter Miranda in the video. Anthony was taking pictures of the crab. The guy that caught the crab let us hold him to take pictures of a live crab and explained he was to small and was going to be put back in the ocean.
Most of the creatures are so strange, it is hard to know which direction they swim or where their mouths are. The images were captured by researchers from the University of Aberdeen during more than 300 hours of diving with a remotely operated vehicle between 2300 feet and 12000 feet deep along the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, the largest mountain range on Earth, which runs down the center of the Atlantic Ocean between Europe and Africa on the east and the Americas on the west. Three of the species, which look like colorful wavy worms, belong to a group of creatures called Enteropneust, which is believed to be the evolutionary link between backbone and invertebrate animals. Previously only a few specimens of the group, from the Pacific Ocean, were known to science. "They have no eyes, no obvious sense organs or brain but there is a head end, tail end and the primitive body plan of backboned animals is established," said Monty Priede, one of the lead researchers on the project, part of the Census of Marine Life. One of the most surprising observations by the researchers was how different the species are on either side of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, just tens of miles apart. "[The two sides of the ridge are] mirror images of each other," Priede said. "but that is where the similarity ended." "It seemed like we were in a scene from Alice Through the Looking Glass," Pried said. "This expedition has revolutionized our thinking about deep-sea life in the Atlantic Ocean. It shows that we ...

www.bestfaxlesspaydayloans.tk - CRAZY! A submarine exploring the ocean's depths recently returned with an unexpected visitor: a crablike critter that has left many readers startled and horrified. In a posting to social bookmarking site Reddit, a deep-sea technician detailed the finding, asking the site's readers to help identify what exactly the bizarre looking creature was. Watch more crazy isopod monster videos at budurl.com The post reads, "I work for a Sub-sea Survey Company, recently this beast came up attached to one of our ROVs. It measures a wee bit over 2.5 feet head to tail, and we expect it latched onto the ROV at roughly 8500 feet depth. Unfortunately, the e-mail that these pictures were attached to came from a contractor, and the ship he was operating from (and therefore location) is unknown, so I can't tell you what part of the Earth this beast was living." The pictures reveal the creature to be a giant isopod, a large crustacean that dwells in deep Atlantic and Pacific waters. This particular creature is a Bathynomus giganteus, a deep-sea scavenger that feeds on dead whales, fish and squid. Scientists have long remarked on the massive scale of this creature. CR McClain wrote on ScienceBlogs explained one theory for the size, that "deep-sea gigantism, for all crustaceans, is a consequence of larger cells sizes obtained under cold temperatures," citing a research paper from 1996. The 10-year Census of Marine Life plumbs the depths of the ocean, recently ...

Just for fun, I made this "Stoner Version" for this video. These kids were hunting and thus the killing of the shark may be disturbing to some. Please understand that killing is apart of hunting for food. This video is far less "evil" than those of the Japanese fishermen catching sharks only to cut off their tail fins and than throw them back into the ocean, helpless to die. Also Sport-fishing is bad because the sharks are killed and discarded opposed to used for food. If one is going to hunt - even for sport - the kill should be used for food, PERIOD! Just because I did a "remix" for this video does not mean I am one who would go around getting my jollies beating sharks to death. When I watch this video, I use the shark as a micron-ism to represent those that I think should be getting beat over the head - proverbially speaking. Such are greedy corporations, evil employers, teen-bashers, "bleeding heart" people etc. Now if the shark had just devoured a loved one, I would see it as justified to bring it on board for a beating.
