Remnick deserves credit for telling Obamas story more completely than others, for lending a reporters zeal to the task, for not ducking the discussion of race and for peeling back several layers of the onion that is Barack Obama. The Washington Post Superb. Beautifully written and artfully constructed. The Economist Ambitious and well executedIts fair and high-minded, sensitive but dispassionate, admiring but never fawningIts this mix of intellect, fact, and feeling that distinguish Remnicks assessment of Obamas victory.Time Out New York If you care about American politics, you have to read The Bridge. Salon Remnick, editor of the New Yorker, offers a detailed but lusterless account of Barack Obama's historic ascent. As a piece of "biographical journalism," the book succeeds ably enough and offers familiar commentary on Obama's cosmopolitan childhood with strains of isolation and abandonment straight out of David Copperfield-rootless, fatherless, with a loving but naĂŻve and absent mother, he suffered racial taunts and humiliations at the hands of his schoolmates. We read how Obama's famous composure was hard-won, how he constructed his personality in opposition to his father's grandiose self-regard, his transformation from "Barry" to "Barack," the drug use, the burgeoning racial and political consciousness-rehashing events that the subject himself has covered in his frank memoirs. But for the scope (and size) of the book, Remnick's interest is ultimately limited to a ...
1, 2, 3, 4 Ooh ohh ohh Yeah yeah yeah Hey If loving you is easy, Playing by the rules, But you said love tastes so much better when its cruel To you everything was just a game, Yeah you played me good, But I want you, I want you, I want you, So much more than I should, Yes I do. I've got my hands up so take your aim, Yeah i'm ready, There's nothing that we can't go through, Oh it hit me like a steal freight train, When you left me, And nothing ever hurt like you, Nothing ever hurt like you. I was naive and wide eyed, But you made me see, That you don't get to taste the honey, Without the sting of a bee, No you don't. Yes you stung me good, Oh yeah you dug in deep, But I'll take, I'll take it, I'll take it Till I'm down on my knees. I've got my hands up to take your aim, Yeah I'm ready, There's nothing that we can't go through, Walk a thousend miles on broken glass, It won't stop me, From making my way back to you, It's not real untill you feel the pain, And nothing ever hurt like you, Nothing ever hurt like you. Oh everything was just a game, yeah you played me good, But I want you, I want you, I want you, I want you, I want you. I've got my hands up to take your aim, Yeah I'm ready, There's nothing that we can't go through, Oh it hit me like a hurricane, When you left me, From making my way back to you, It's not real till you feel the pain, And nothing ever hurt like you, Nothing ever hurt like you.

"Michael's compassion and generosity taught the world to sing with one voice and his amazing talent lives in the hearts of people everywhere." "Michael Jackson inspired the world by demonstrating how one person can make a positive impact on the lives of many," says Rickie Byars Beckwith, director of the 200 voice Agape International Choir. "We are honored to sing in joyous celebration with Siedah Garrett, whose socially responsible lyrics helped bring consciousness to the masses." Rickie, with her husband, Michael Bernard Beckwith, Founder of the Agape International Spiritual Center in Culver City, CA, created the Agape International Choir in 1988 as a vehicle that delivers transformational healing through the power of music. The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time was the cover story of a special issue of Rolling Stone magazine published in November 2004, The song list was chosen based on votes by 172 musicians, critics, and music industry figures. With 23 songs on the list, The Beatles are the most represented musical act. John Lennon is the only artist to place multiple songs in the top 10 (as a member of the Beatles and as a solo artist). The Beatles are followed by The Rolling Stones (14 entries); Bob Dylan (12); Elvis Presley (11); The Beach Boys and Jimi Hendrix (seven each); and Chuck Berry, U2, James Brown, Prince, Led Zeppelin and Sly & the Family Stone (six each). To make videos of the five parts of this list, I've decided to play only the name of each song - whenever it's possible - (thanks for the idea Mcguffin !), so it's pretty fast, the other videos you've already seen on Youtube (who are not by me) are from the German version of the magazine, but here's the official list. From 101 to 200: 101. Voodoo Child (Slight Return), Jimi Hendrix 102. Be-Bop-A-Lula, Gene Vincent and His Blue Caps 103. Hot Stuff, Donna Summer 104. Living for the City, Stevie Wonder 105. The Boxer, Simon and Garfunkel 106. Mr. Tambourine Man, Bob Dylan 107. Not Fade Away, Buddy Holly and the Crickets 108. Little Red Corvette, Prince 109. Brown Eyed Girl, Van Morrison 110. Stereo: www.youtube.com Buck Norris sings "Seven Spanish Angels" by Willie Nelson and Ray Charles. Throughout the '50s, Charles ran off a series of R&B hits that, although they weren't called "soul" at the time, did a lot to pave the way for soul by presenting a form of R&B that was sophisticated without sacrificing any emotional grit. "This Little Girl of Mine," "Drown in My Own Tears," "Hallelujah I Love Her So," "Lonely Avenue," and "The Right Time" were all big hits. But Charles didn't really capture the pop audience until "What'd I Say," which caught the fervor of the church with its pleading vocals, as well as the spirit of rock & roll with its classic electric piano line. It was his first Top Ten pop hit, and one of his final Atlantic singles, as he left the label at the end of the '50s for ABC. One of the chief attractions of the ABC deal for Charles was a much greater degree of artistic control of his recordings. He put it to good use on early-'60s hits like "Unchain My Heart" and "Hit the Road Jack," which solidified his pop stardom with only a modicum of polish attached to the R&B he had perfected at Atlantic. In 1962, he surprised the pop world by turning his attention to country & western music, topping the charts with the "I Can't Stop Loving You" single, and making a hugely popular album (in an era in which R&B/soul LPs rarely scored high on the charts) with Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music. Perhaps it shouldn't have been so surprising; Charles ...
