1984) The music video to "The Riddle" depicts Kershaw walking through a house shaped like a question mark, making his way through certain obstacles and looking through drawers while singing. At the beginning of the music video Nik is seen trying to get through a door with a screwdriver, it ends with the camera moving up away from Nik to reveal that the question mark is lying in the street, at which point a man in a green costume seen earlier in the video comes and picks it up. The green man is the Riddler, a villain from the Batman comics. Kershaw claimed the video was inspired by his love for post-modern artistic expressionism. Another thing to add, is that the music video shows characters from Alice in Wonderland and Beyond the Mirror. ________________________________ During the mid-'80s, Nik Kershaw managed to score a handful of pop hits and, in doing so, establish himself as a profitable commercial songwriter. Kershaw began his musical career by learning to play guitar when he was a teenager. In 1974, he joined his first band, Half Pint Hogg, which played nothing but Deep Purple covers. However, his musical ideas were not limited to heavy metal; after he left school, he joined a jazz-funk band called Fusion. Fusion released one album, 'Til I Hear From You, in the late '70s. Once the group broke up, Kershaw signed to MCA Records with the help of Nine Below Zero's manager, Micky Modern. Hey You guys! I'm sorry it's been so long since I posted a vid. I KNOW it's been forever. I figured I should make it good for taking so long...something not only good..but different! This is my buddy Barrie Walker...he goes by Baz to some. I think he's a talented guy and we kicked around the idea of a musical collab for some time....and here's where we ended up. We hope you guys like what you hear. Baz lives all the way over in Europe. He sent me his raw vocal and video from ALL the way over there and I spliced and mixed everything together. Pretty awesome huh? With New technology and the internet, there really isn't much you can't do. I've heard of over dubbing...or tracking on top of another mix from another studio before. It happens alot with strings. They record down to the basic mix...and then send back the raw information and the mastering studio mixes everything in right...but that's in major studios etc. It amazing how powerful out little studios are now. Anyway...You'll notice Barry's vocal sounds different than mine. not just because our voices are different...but because his mic and pre amp are different...Hense a different tone...and phase etc. But they do that a lot with duets. Find a mic that fits each singer and then mix them together...and the difference in tonal qualities between the mics make each of the voices stand out in their own way. Don't Let That Sun Go Down is written by singer-songwriter Dan Fogelberg from his album "Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed...and Some Blues" which recorded in various locations in the US between 92 & 95. It captures Dan Fogelbergs on stage Live performance with no studio repairs for sound and it shows the breadth of his musical abilities. "Don't Let That Sun Go Down" was recorded in Knoxville 1994, it deliver a souful feel with Fogelberg in fine bluesy vocals. The following is message to DanFans from my partner River, aka MariaGlenn: "The date was July 7, 1997..the location was Myrtle Beach, South Carolina...The venue was The Palace, and it was a wonderful summer night...Second row seats to the left front of the stage, gave a wonderful view of this acoustic concert by Dan. Dan's performance was as usual, perfect, filled with his wonderful sense of humor, and beautifully played...Mid way through the show, Dan announced, "this is a new song I've never recorded"...and there was an intense silence through out the crowd in expectation...Oh Boy! If I had to explain in words, how this song hit my senseswell, that would be a long write...smiling...
