The Reliance Group urged the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) to be more discreet in its comments to the media, which could have a potential impact on share prices. Group managing director Gautam Doshi denied that the ADAG group had received any queries from the ICAI, but at the same time said that the accounting body had asked for audited balance sheets and why the company has chosen to implement a policy of rotation of statutory auditors. However, he added that the company would continue to extend all cooperation to ICAI and would respond to any queries if and when raised.Most ADAG shares, with the exception of Reliance Infra, gave up early gains, even as the company reiterated in an analysts concall that ""corporate rivals and a bear cartel"" were to blame for the steep decline in share prices.

This week, a 5-year old ICAI probe into the accounting affairs of the GTB finally came to an end. The ICAI disciplinary committee has held two GTB auditors, guilty of professional misconductboth of whom are PwC employees.
