By far the best Google doodle I've seen (hint, hint, Ryan Germick, et al.)! I hope we'll get to see Ms. Pac-Man next year! I think it's a better game (sorry Namco). This javascript + CSS emulation of Pac-Man is very well done, including a similar collision detection bug that is in the original (where you will pass right through a ghost without touching it if Pac-Man and the ghost switch tiles simultaneously). A score of 46270 isn't the best I've done, but it's fun! :) Hitting the Insert Coin button (which had taken the place of the usual I'm Feeling Lucky button) once would start the game (as would waiting ~20 seconds). Clicking the Insert Coin button again (before or during play) would put the game into two player mode, with the 2nd person playing as Ms. Pac-Man. Pac-Man's movements could be controlled by either using the arrow keys on your keyboard (much easier) or using your mouse to click on the screen relative to where the character was (much harder). Ms. Pac-Man was controlled using the WASD keys on the keyboard. Both 1 & 2 player modes started with 4 total lives (including the one you start with) and gave an extra life for every 10000 points earned. One difference from the original was that the 2 player mode on Google has both players playing simultaneously. Also, if either player died, they were both reset to their respective starting position.
30 years ago in 1980, Namco created Pac-Man, which grew to become one of the most popular arcade games ever, and a celebrated classic. Today, Google celebrates its 30th anniversary of the game by changing their logo into a playable Pac-Man game. You can start the game by pressing "Insert Coin" (which replaced the "I'm feeling lucky" button). Or you can wait 10 seconds and the game will automatically start. The arrow keys control Pac-Man. There is also a 2-player version that you can play with someone else by pressing "Insert Coin" twice. The second player, Mrs. Pac-Man, is controlled using the WASD keys on the keyboard. There are a total of 256 levels. I found this out during my English class, and on my first try I got to level 7. Unfortunately, I could not videotape it, since it is in school.
