It's claimed the recession has forced Indian IT companies to take on the concept of cloud computing or shared computing more seriously. HCL Technologies Vineet Nayar says "Whenever theres an infusion of new technology, it dramatically changes the way services are bought and sold. Before the dotcom revolution, in the year 2000, Indian IT firms were each $100 million or so in size". He goes onto say that, "Nobody could have said that each of us would be $3-$5 billion in 2010". Cloud-based services involve changing the whole IT infrastructure out of a businesses premises and allowing the company access to applications through a web interface such as Gmail. This type of service costs a fraction of a traditional IT infrastructure, primarily due to the ease of maintaining the IT infrastructure of multiple clients at a single location. Since both hardware and software are shared among all the clients, capital costs are a fraction of the traditional approach.

An electric car is an alternative fuel automobile that uses electric motors and motor controllers for propulsion, in place of more common propulsion methods such as the internal combustion engine (ICE). Electric cars are specifically a variety of electric vehicle created or adapted for use on the road. Electric cars are commonly powered by on-board battery packs, and as such are battery electric vehicles (BEVs). Other on-board energy storage methods that are expected to come into use in the future include ultracapacitors, fuel cells, and a spinning flywheel which stores kinetic energy. Electric cars enjoyed popularity between the mid-19th century and early 20th century, when electricity was among the preferred methods for automobile propulsion, providing a level of comfort and ease of operation that could not be achieved by the gasoline cars of the time. Advances in ICE technology soon rendered this advantage moot; the greater range of gasoline cars, quicker refueling times, and growing petroleum infrastructure, along with the mass production of gasoline vehicles by companies such as the Ford Motor Company, which reduced prices of gasoline cars to less than half that of equivalent electric cars, led to a decline in the use of electric propulsion, effectively removing it from important markets such as the United States by the 1930s. In recent years, increased concerns over the environmental impact of gasoline cars, along with reduced consumer ability to pay for fuel for ...

The Prosperity of Chinese people at the cost of Tibetans. woodsmoke.wordpress.comChina often complains that its civilizing mission in Tibet is costing the government and people of China large amounts in terms of subsidies to an under-developed region. According to official Chinese statistics, the level of annual subsidies to the Tibetan Autonomous Region (TAR) in the late 1980s was around 1 billion yuan or $270 million. However, all the infrastructure that China has built in Tibet has not made the lives of the native Tibetans any better; it has only taken the exploitative apparatuses of the Chinese government deeper.
