Giger is a WIP (work in progress) fully custom humanoid robot. He stands about 25" tall and weighs roughly 12lbs. All his brackets are made of 2/2.5mm 5052 aluminum, and uses a 400mhz Gumstix Verdex Pro as onboard smarts. This is about 2 hours of work after final configuration as a result of the new upgrades. All 10 main leg servos have been upgraded to EX-106+ Dynamixels, so my previous walking gait progress was entirely erased. All new custom brackets used in the legs and feet, as well as new elbow/shoulder brackets and arm extensions. Brackets were designed in Autodesk Inventor 2008 and machined by Rapid Sheet Metal: www.rapidsheetmetal.com Keep in mind; I have this gait tuned to a very slow rate so that I can work on the balance and COG shifting correctly, then it can be sped up to a more realistic, useful speed. The Valdosta Daily Times: Meet a young inventor Written By: Dean Poling, December 08, 2008 An invention to help the invalid pull on their socks has taken a Hahira Middle School student to Taiwan. The concept for his Sock Assist Stick came to eighth-grader Wesley Newton, youngest son of John and Teresa Newton, upon seeing that his ill grandmother was unable to pull on her socks. He took his idea from the brainstorming phase to drawings to building test models with help from his father, John Newton, Lowndes High School engineering and technology teacher. They created a workable prototype, one where you place the sock in the jaws of the stick. The jaws widen to open the sock, making it possible to insert a foot and then pull the sock up the ankle without having to bend over. Though he does not physically need help putting on his socks, Wesley says through practice the Sock Assist Stick works. His grandmother, however, was never able to use the invention she had inspired. She passed away before Wesley had finished the prototype. But his work with the Sock Assist Stick was not finished, and it would soon take him places. A couple of years ago, John Newton, because of his work at LHS, was invited on a trip to Taiwan from Serena Huang, a Valdosta resident and Taiwan native, who is the founder of the locally based Azalea International Folk Fair. On Oct. 20, 2008, Sterling D. Allan interviewed Cesar Soos, co-inventor of the Keppean Scalar motor, a breakthrough new motor that they hope will soon power everything from cars to industrial equipment. The Keppe Motor allegedly requires a quarter as much electricity to generate power as a normal motor, without getting hot, by allegedly capturing scalar energy from the "vacuum" of space. Although not yet started, these experiments will represent the first study of the therapeutic effects of LSD on humans in 35 years, as other studies have focused on the drug's effects on consciousness and body. Dieses Modell einer Vereinzelung ist eine weitere Baugruppe aus dem Buch "Wunderwerke aus Holz" von Raymond Levy, Hugendubel Verlag (Org. Titel "Making Mechanical Marvels in Wood"). Die Auslaufbahn hat genau genommen die falsche Schrägung, so dass die grüne Kugel nicht schnell genug wegrollt. Ich fand's aber witzig, wie die rote Kugel die grüne rausschubst und habe es dabei belassen.
