A review of sweet and bitter events in the past year Iranian people are focusing on their victories and gradually forgetting disappointing episodes that happened in the current Iranian calendar year ending March 20, 2010. The main events include winning the final of the 2010 Greco-Roman Wrestling World Cup, the national football teams loss in the qualifying matches for the 2010 World Cup, losing the right to hold the 2nd Islamic Solidarity Games and the suspension of three of their weightlifters over doping charges. 1. Iran beat Turkey 4-3 in the final of the 2010 Greco-Roman Wrestling World Cup on in Yerevan, Armenia, in February and claimed the championship for their first time. A total of eight teams namely Iran, Georgia, Turkey, Russia, Hungary, Cuba and a Nordic team in addition to the Armenian host participated in the competition from February 12 to 14. 2. With nine minutes remaining to advance to the 2010 World Cup, Manchester United midfielder Ji-Sung Park scored an equalizing goal in Seoul pouring cold water on Iranians hopes to book a berth in the event. South Korea had already qualified for the prestigious event and their win paved the way for North Korea to advance to the World Cup along with Japan and Australia. 3. The Islamic Solidarity Games Federation (ISSF) located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, asked the Iranians to remove the words Persian Gulf from the medals and brochures ...
www.cairobservatory.org The Council on American-Islamic Relations, known as CAIR, claims to be Americas largest Islamic civil liberties group. But thats a myth. Here are the facts FACT: CAIR is an unindicted coconspirator in the largest terrorism finance trial in Americas history. FACT: CAIR is being sued by Muslim, African-American and Hispanic families for defrauding them instead of giving them legal help. FACT: Four CAIR leaders have been convicted of felonies including terrorism. FACT: Only one percent, ONE PERCENT, of CAIRs latest reported revenues came from Muslim American members. Meanwhile foreign donors- Saudi Arabia, Iran, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait- have given CAIR over six million dollars in cash and loans, and over fifty million dollars in pledges. One percent from members: millions from Saudi Arabia, Iran, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait. Shouldnt there be a law to let the American public know the truth about CAIR and their foreign donors? Of course, and there is one CAIR just doesnt follow it. The Foreign Agents Registration Act, enacted just before World War Two, still requires foreign agents spreading propaganda to register, so Americans can know what they are up to. Back then the problem was foreign agents working for the Nazis. Today the problem is foreign agents like CAIR, working for Saudi Arabia, Iran and others. Americans have a right to know that CAIR received over six million dollars in cash and loans and over fifty million dollars in ...

PFDC Article: Majidi brace downs Al Ahli in ACL PFDC - JEDDAH, A brace from veteran striker Farhad Majidi handed Esteghlal Tehran a sweet 2-1 victory over Saudi Arabia's Al Ahli in Jeddah in the two teams' opening match of the 2010 AFC Champions League on Tuesday evening. The 32-year-old former Rapid Vienna man shocked the hosts early in the game, when his header to a Fabio Januario cross beat the goalkeeper, just 12 minutes into the game. Esteghlal pulled back after taking the lead and only defended against extremely dominant hosts who, however, failed to capitalize on any of their numerous good scoring chances. The Iranians almost were rewarded for their ultra-defensive approach when shortly before halftime Khosro Heydari inscened Majidi, who perfectly dribbled past the last defender, however, failed to double the lead with only the keeper to beat. Al Ahli continued to outplay Esteghlal in second half and the Blues were very lucky not to concede an equalizer, especially when the homeside failed to convert a rightfully awarded penalty kick. Mohammad Mohammadi, who replaced Vahid Talebloo today, had fouled sizzling winger Jizawi, but also saved Marcinho's spotkick. On the ...

We have heard that Iran is a nuclear menace in defiance of the international community, bent on "wiping Israel off the map", supporting terrorism, and unwilling to negotiate. This documentary disputes these claims as they are presented to us and puts them in the context of present and historical US imperialism and hypocrisy with respect to Iran. It looks at the struggle for democracy inside Iran, the consequences of the current escalation and the potential US and/or Israeli attack, and suggests some alternatives to consider. This 79 minute documentary features Antonia Juhasz (The Bu$h Agenda), Larry Everest (Oil, Power, and Empire), and other activists and Iranian-Americans. The DVD also contains a 20 minute preview version ideal for meetings. The goal of this movie is to promote dialog and change the debate on Iran, so please consider organizing a screening, big or small, in your area. Produced by Aaron Newman, an independent film-maker and part of the Scary Cow film co-op in San Francisco. He is an anti-imperialism/pro-democracy activist, founder of the SF Chomsky Book Club ...
