People of Isle Royale
Visit by twin sisters to Rock Harbor in the Isle Royale National Park with a 5-mile round trip hike to Scoville Point on the Stoll Trail. This was done as a day trip, arriving (at 11:45 AM) and departing (at 2:45 PM) via Copper Harbor and Rock Harbor across Lake Superior on the Isle Royale Queen IV. The weather could not have been better for this trip/hike. (Once the girls shed their backpacks to me, they enjoyed the hike and the views of the island, Lake Superior and outlying islands. Fear of missing the boat -- literally -- and the promise of ice cream helped us all maintain a steady pace.) But we did not see any moose (or wolves) -- though we encountered an angry, chattering squirrel. Isle Royale is in Michigan but it is closer to Canada.

A Kayaking adventure arround the eastern part of Isle Royale.
My youngest sister, my mother and I stayed in the state of Michigan this summer with a trip to its very top: Isle Royale National Park. The trip was very relaxing. Isle Royale was scenic and quiet. Only one issue arose: the rangers devil may care attitude towards my mom, who is in a wheelchair. The park is almost entirely inaccessible but rather than express empathy, the possibility of future progress or shame, the rangers told me and my mom that the "park was not for everyone."
