Street Preacher Ruben Israel leads a group of street preachers through the streets of the Folsom Street Fair in San Francisco. While in Venice, Italy, I took a trip into the old Jewish Quarter. As I was leaving the square, they were inviting the men to put on a Tefelin and make a mitzvah for the safety of Israel. I'm not Jewish, so I couldn't partake in that honor. However, it turns out that I actually met one of them at the Israel Day Parade a few months back. During the Salute to Israel Day Parade, a group of Orthodox Jews invited men to put on a Tefelin and make a mitzvah for the safety of Israel. The tefelin is a pair of black leather boxes containing scrolls of parchment inscribed with verses from the Bible. I was offered to do the same, but had to decline, since I'm not Jewish.
