A long time ago I made a different video for another track from this super-groovy album (the song Oltre Il Cristallo) but it vanished into thin (or fat) air and I can't reconstruct it as I have no access to the footage I used... So to remedy the situation, here is Vulcano - the joyous playout track from the 1979 Italian space synth LP, Iceman. The band name roughly translates as "The Men From The Galaxy" which is apt when you hear their cosmic music. I believe they also used the Devo / Kraftwerk gimmick of wearing costumes on stage and in press photos - shiny silver jump suits if I recall... Well, I suppose they are the men from the galaxy! The video is made up entirely of warped snatches from the 50's crime series 'Colonel March Of Scotland Yard' featuring Boris Karloff as the eccentric, but highly intelligent plod, sporting his trademark eyepatch. The series has some silly plots, bonehead dialogue and ropey acting, but it's rather endearing and addictive - thanks largely to Boris Karloff's performance and my own penchant for watching jurassic dramas starring avuncular old men with a twinkle in their (one remaining) eye... One for my team of dedicated Jungian therapists to work out, I suppose - but a sincere doff of the cap to Mr. Karloff, who lived through years of hunger, poverty and back breaking manual work until he became a household name and Hollywood's monster of choice.
