BOSTON (AP)—The Utah Jazz might have been caught off-guard when Rajon Rondo(notes) took the ball coast-to-coast with 3.8 seconds left in the third quarter. The Boston Celtics werent: Theyve timed him. Rondo took the inbounds pass after a Jazz free throw, letting it bounce a few times so the clock wouldnt start, and raced to the basket for the buzzer-beating layup to help the Celtics pull away and beat Utah 105-86 on Wednesday night. It was just our Get out of the way play, said Rondo, who had 14 points and 11 assists. Rasheed (Wallace) came up and set a great pick and left me one-on-one with a big. Rondo, who claims to run a 3.9 second 40-yard dash, has always counted speed among his assets at point guard. By being able to dribble 94 feet in 3.1 seconds — and yes, theyve timed him in practice—means Boston sometimes doesnt have to fire up a desperation shot at the end of a quarter. So even though coach Doc Rivers put 3-point shooters Ray Allen(notes) and Eddie House(notes) on the floor, but the first option was for Rondo to head straight for the basket. Rondos job is to push it up, Rivers said. It has to be a straight line, though. Thats either a coast-to-coast play or a pullup (jumper) for him. Rondos basket gave Boston a 22-point lead heading into the fourth quarter and the Jazz never got closer than 17 points from there. Kevin Garnett(notes) scored 18 points, Allen had 15 and Paul Pierce(notes) 13, including two 3-pointers at the start of the third that helped put the ...

A wonderful slideshow featuring Prowl, Jazz, and Savage Garden music. What's not to love? All artwork done by Plantman.exe - you can check out her other artwork by visiting plantman-exe.deviantart.com Yes, this is another one of my shameless advertisements for favorite artists. Enjoy the wonderful artwork and go visit her page! She's got more where this came from - trust me. Oh, as a bit of a blooper - I have two pics in here that weren't done by Plantman. I apologize for that, but I just now noticed. The first pic was done by Wyward Insecticon (the one of Jazz leaning on Prowl at his desk), and the second by Kakyoinlee (the very last pic of the slideshow). Thank you once again, Plantman! Judging from the pics, it can be viewed as either Prowl/Jazz relationship or friendship, however you wish. It was intended as a pairing, though.

Jazz In The Gardens - Miami Gardens 2009
Joe "King" Oliver (Dec.19,1885 - April 10,1938) was a jazz cornet player and bandleader. He was particularly noted for his playing style, pioneering the use of mutes. Also a notable composer, he wrote many tunes still played regularly, including "Dippermouth Blues", "Sweet Like This", "Canal Street Blues", and "Doctor Jazz". He was the mentor and teacher of Louis Armstrong. Two of Armstrong's most famous recordings, "West End Blues" and "Weather Bird", were Oliver compositions. His influence was such that Armstrong claimed, "if it had not been for Joe Oliver, Jazz would not be what it is today". Joseph Oliver was born in Aben, Louisiana, near Donaldsonville in Ascension Parish, and moved to New Orleans in his youth. Oliver played cornet in the New Orleans brass bands and dance bands and also in the city's red-light district, Storyville. The band he co-led with trombonist Kid Ory was considered New Orleans' hottest and best in the 1910s. Oliver achieved great popularity in New Orleans across economic and racial lines, and was in demand for playing jobs from rough working class black dance halls to white society debutante parties. According to an interview at the Tulane's Hogan Jazz Archive with Oliver's widow Stella Oliver, in 1919 a fight broke out at a dance where Oliver was playing, and the police arrested Oliver and the band along with the fighters. This made Oliver decide to leave the Jim Crow South. By 1922, after travels in California, Oliver was the jazz king in ...
BASSIST STANLEY CLARKE RECORDS FIRST ACOUSTIC JAZZ TRIO ALBUM FEATURING HIROMI AND LENNY WHITE In a career that spans nearly four decades and includes gigs with Return to Forever, Rite of Strings and a variety of other solo and collaborative projects along the way, bassist Stanley Clarke one of the most prominent voices in electric jazz and fusion had seemingly covered every possible corner of the jazz landscape. But there was one avenue he had yet to explore. I had never done an acoustic bass record, ever, he says. Theres a long list of people on whose records Ive played acoustic bass Art Blakey, Dexter Gordon, Stan Getz, Joe Henderson and many others but Id never done an acoustic jazz trio record of my own. So I wanted to record one that would just feature the piano and the acoustic bass in a way that you could really hear the bass. This long-overdue dream project becomes a reality with the May 12, 2009, worldwide release of Jazz In The Garden (HUCD 3155) on Heads Up International, a division of Concord Music Group. For his first straightahead acoustic jazz trio recording, Clarke assembles two brilliant collaborators at the top of their respective games: pianist Hiromi Uehara and drummer Lenny White. Each represents a distinctly different generational and cultural perspective, but given the range and versatility of both, the net effect is superb. Indeed, the synergy resulting from all three of these luminaries makes for one of the most refreshing Stanley Clarke ...

Kobe Bryant Sick Shots vs Jazz 08 MVP year (20072008) On May 27, 2007, ESPN reported that Bryant stated that he wanted to be traded if Jerry West did not return to the team with full authority.[61] Bryant later confirmed his desire for West's return to the franchise, but denied stating that he would want to be traded if that does not occur.[62] However, three days later, on Stephen A. Smith's radio program, Bryant expressed anger over a Lakers "insider" who claimed that Bryant was responsible for Shaquille O'Neal's departure from the team, and publicly stated, "I want to be traded." Three hours after making that statement, Bryant stated in another interview that after having a conversation with head coach Phil Jackson, he has reconsidered his decision and backed off his trade request.[63] On December 23 2007, Bryant became the youngest player (29 years, 122 days) to reach 20000 points, in a game against the New York Knicks, in Madison Square Garden.[64] Despite an injury to his shooting hand's small finger, described as "a complete tear of the radial collateral ligament, an avulsion fracture, and a volar plate injury at the MCP joint" that occurred in a game on February 5, 2008, Bryant played all 82 games of the regular season instead of opting for surgery. Regarding his injury, he stated, "I would prefer to delay any surgical procedure until after our Lakers season, and this summer's Olympic Games. But, this is an injury that myself [sic] and the Lakers' medical staff ...

(Featuring Bernadette's boy's middleschool jazz combo playing the song, Midnight Blue, made famous by Melissa Manchester.) Well it has been a long time since I uploaded a youtube video! Not since the great upload crisis of July 2008, when the interface between my filmmaking software and youtube crashed out, and everybody said maybe they'd fix it, but it could take months, so I became a writer again... But ah... I feel the rush of adrenalin, loading up again... They did it at warp speed this time, maybe to make up for the great crash of 2008, and now the video is indeed present with the little clock on it indicating something might happen soon, whetting my anticipation... Cross your fingers for me, this is a pretty sweet one... It is a slideshow of two sweet days my boy and I spent visiting my brother Frank in LA this summer. My brother is a very unusual guy with a great heart and a great soul, and a great talent for spreading goodwill wherever he goes, and I always knew I wanted to put him in a little film. I call him the unofficial goodwill ambassador of LA. (He can chat people up in Dutch, German, Spanish, Chinese, Russian... And happily does!) And the music of my boy's jazz combo just melts me away... Isn't Midnight Blue the most beautiful song?! (It was made famous by that exquisite songbird, Melissa Manchester.) And he plays it so nicely here. (That's my boy on the saxophone!) Well, the little clock's still there... Nothing's happened yet... So, how are you???!! *See ...

(The crowd at Jazz on the Green listens to the sounds of The Sons of Brazil.) The Sons of Brazil performed at Joslyn Art Museum's last Jazz on the Green outdoor concert for 2008. The band formed in 1991 and is from Kansas City, but you wouldn't guess that because they play nothing but Brazilian jazz . . . and do it very well! The Sons of Brasil consists of group founder Stan Kessler (trumpet, flugelhorn), Doug Auwarter (drums), Danny Embrey (guitar), Greg Whitfield (electric bass), Roger Wilder (keyboards), and Gary Helm (percussion). Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha has sponsored Jazz on the Green for the last 24 years, usually on the front steps of the museum. Because of construction for the new sculpture garden, the concerts took place on the north side of the museum this year. The 25th season will be return to the east entrance near Dodge Street.
After visited Gilroy Gardens and seeing my little sentimental princess Adriane tears for the few survival butterflies, I dreamt of my old garden I left behind 3 years back... From one of the greatest live events of the 70's. Concert For Bangladesh brought together some of the top musicians of the day for relief to the starving country of Bangladesh. The brainchild of Ravi Shankar and George Harrison, when asked to help... some of the greatest legends in Rock showed up ...and didn't take a penny. This is the Indian Music portion of the show. Ravi Shankar is possibly the greatest Sitar player ever. Ths is pretty amazing if you are unfamiliar with Indian music or the Sitar. Of trivia note.. Ravi Shankar is the father of Jazz singer Norah Jones. Enjoy... Better times...Better Place

CLICK VIEW MORE FOR MP3!! ~~~~~~ Yay for Mario!! I finally made a VG music tribute to everyone's favorite plumber. I played the game for a little bit but it's not really my thing....I liked the Mario Sunshine/Mario 64 vibe more...even though Galaxy is probably the best platformer I've ever seen make use of the element known as 3D! So...the music! Well like I said, I played it a little and every time I was in the observatory or saw my brother play (did that more) this theme kept on remembering me of a certain jazz standard. Then it occured to me: Someday my Prince will Come! I pretty much ripped the first two chords from that piece off to this one and the rest was made up. If you were to kinda analyze the theme song you'll find its footprints will lead to some standard jazz changes. ~~~ Mp3: rapidshare.com I have decided to release the full version of what I had recorded. I got confused on wheather or not I wanted to continue playing so there're some unexpected long breaks but ultimately improvise my way through. I WILL post this 'cut out from the video' section, redone and as a tutorial at another time. ...and please download as a free user so I get points to extend the account. It will help keep this mp3 and future pieces up there ^^

Only the last part of this I'm afraid, but this piece from the Carling Family swings so magnificently it must be heard. Particularly foot tapping offerings from Gerd's piano, Ulf's drums and Gunhilde's powerful trombone, here are a classic couple of minutes of pure jazz. Recorded at the Stockamollan Jazz Festival in Sweden in June 2007.

Third part of jazz piano spring suite. Budding exotic flora at Sewerby Wood and Gardens. My early influences: Oscar Peterson, Keith Emerson, George Shearing, soon followed by Keith Jarrett, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Joe Sample, George Duke. Today I listen to solo piano of Duke Ellington, Earl Hines, Art Tatum, Bud Powell, Dave Brubeck, Lennie Tristano, Cecil Taylor. My deepest love now lies in the music of Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Lester Young, Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman, and later of Charlie Parker, Sonny Rollins, Miles Davis, Stan Getz, John Coltrane supreme?
Saskatchewan singer/songwriter Dale Budd wrote this song back in 1978 when he returned to his hometown of Moose Jaw to discover that the famous dance hall: Temple Gardens had been torn down and replaced with a parking lot.
