"The government should introduce a bill for formation of separate Telangana in the next session of Parliament and the BJP would fully support it," she told a convention of Telangana protagonists organised by the BJP here. Slamming the government's reported idea to appoint a committee headed by a Supreme Court judge on the issue, she said it is nothing but an attempt to put the issue on the backburner. "All consultations and talks are over. Further consultations are not acceptable. They should table a bill in Parliament in the next session," she said. The Centre would have to accede to the Telangana demand as all sections of society in Telangana have come together setting aside all differences, she said. "Every idea has its time. The idea of formation of separate Telangana state has come," she said. Congress has betrayed the people of Telangana on the separate statehood demand, Swaraj alleged. "Home Minister (P Chidambaram) had announced before the media on December 9 that cases against students will be withdrawn, Chandrasekhar Rao would call off his fast and we will move towards the formation of Telangana state. People thought it is a gift of Sonia Gandhi on her birthday. But how can the government go back on its promise after making the statement on TV? "This is nothing but a betrayal of the people of Telangana. But how many times you will cheat? Separate Telangana agitation was held in 1969. Separate Andhra movement took place in 1972. How many times you will cheat ...

The International Organisation for Animal Protection - OIPA in India moved PIL No. 381 of 2010 and same was fixed for 29-11-2010 by the Supreme Court of India. Smt. Maneka Gandhi, founder PFA and Member of Parliament along with PETA in India also approached to support the cause, VHP and BJP as well. We respect all religions but don't appreciate animal sacrifice in Hindu temples, cow - camel slaughtering on Bakir Eid as well. As per article 51G, all citizens should show compassion towards animals and as per article 48, STATE SHOULD AND DEVELOP ITS MILCH AND DRAUGHT ANIMALS. As per Prevention of cruelty on animals Act 1960, beating an animal is also an offence. As per Motor Vehicle Act -- only 6 to 8 cows can be carried in one truck or wagon. As per West Bengal Animal Slaughter Control Act 1950, which was clarified by High Court and Supreme Court -- SACRIFICE OF COWS IS NOT AN ESSENTIAL RELIGIOUS REQUIREMENT, HENCE ILLEGAL. But all these laws are just a piece of paper. They are not implemented at all. This is why India is loosing its animal wealth. Already many species of Cows and 90 % of Indian breed have already been LOST in last 63 years. Cows are coming on foot or by Rail or by road from all parts of India to West Bengal. Where the transport on foot is not possible say on paid HIGHWAYS, they are loaded in trucks, three to ten times the allowed limit. The pain and agony which these animals face during such transportation, is beyond imagination. Thirty to forty percent of ...

Human Rights Violation In Development Project An introduction to the film by Alex Ekka* Police repression and administrative high-handedness is becoming a common phenomenon in the country today, when the project-affected people protest against development-induced displacement and demand justice on account the serious consequences. It's but an irony that instead of ameliorating the sufferings of the displaced and the project affected people and working for their humane and just resettlement and rehabilitation, the Government machinery resorts to brutal violence on them whose lives are already at stake on account of the development projects. This is a clear case of human rights violation. While such acts of the state sponsored barbarism are to be condemned and the guilty punished by the court of law, one must understand how such crimes are committed by the law enforcing authorities on the just demands and rights of the people so that public opinion is created against such oppression. In a recent orientation programme to the Govt. officials from various Ministries on resettlement and rehabilitation of the project displaced and affected people, organized by Council for Social Development and held at Indian nternational Centre, New Delhi, the author was asked to present some case studies on the phenomenon and impact of displacement. He showed the participants a video film on human rights violation at the behest of development projects, entitled "When people assert their rights ...
