Johnny Fontaine and Vito Corleone...You can act like a man
Al Martino (born Alfred Cini, October 7, 1927 October 13, 2009) was an American singer and actor. Allmusic journalist Steve Huey states, "Martino was one of the great Italian American pop crooners, boasting a string of hit singles and albums that stretched from the early 1950s all the way into the mid 1970s. However, he was perhaps even better known for his role in The Godfather as singer Johnny Fontane, a character supposedly based on Frank Sinatra, but with eerie similarities to Martino's own career."
We just saw Al Martino not to long ago

He was born Alfred Cini on October 7, 1927, in South Philadelphia. Encouraged by his boyhood friend Mario Lanza, Martino began his singing career in the late 1940s. His single "Here in My Heart" hit No. 1 in the UK in 1952 and stayed on top for a record nine weeks. He performed for Queen Elizabeth at the London Palladium that year. Martino's publicist, Sandy Friedman, said the singer planned to return for an anniversary performance at the Palladium next year. Martino had a run of chart singles through 1953, but his career stalled with the advent of rock 'n' roll. He caught fire again in 1963 with the Top 5 hit "I Love You Because." It was the first of six consecutive top 40 singles in less than two years, including "I Love You More and More Every Day," which peaked at No. 9 in 1964. The string of hits propelled a pair of Martino's albums -- "I Love You Because" and "Painted, Tainted Rose" -- into the top 10 in 1963. He also scored a top-10 disc with "A Merry Christmas," which made Billboard's holiday chart for four consecutive years. His last top 10 album was "Spanish Eyes" in 1966, his only ...

Two Minute Films is a short film created by Ryan Hamann (the ugly, blond one) and Jeff Prahl (the attractive, Spanish one) for the Crossroads Bible Church 2008 high school film festival. It consists of 2 minute versions of real blockbuster movies cushioned by short host segments introducing the features. During the host segments, Ryan and Jeff both play each other, often using this format to subtly make fun of each other. The entire film won 3 awards at the film festival (against 7 other submissions): Best Remake, Best Actor (Ryan Hamann), and Best Picture. The second movie summarized is The Godfather. We'd like to offer you the opportunity to watch Casnio Royale in part three of our presentation afterwards. We'd suggest you don't refuse. "I Have But One Heart" is a popular song. The music was written by Johnny Farrow, the lyrics by Marty Symes. The song was published in 1945. The song was also sung by Johnny Fontane in the movie The Godfather, during Connie's wedding, and was on the soundtrack of the movie. The song is adapted from the traditional Italian song "O Marenariello." This pop song-related article is a stub. You can help Wikipedia by expanding it. I have but one heart Lyrics by: Marty Symes Music by: Johnny Farrow Arranged By: Axel Stordahl Label: Columbia Records Recorded by Frank Sinatra: November 30, 1945 I have but one heart, this heart I bring you, I have but one heart to share with you, I have but one dream that I can cling to, You are the one dream I pray comes true. My darling, until I saw you, I never felt this way, And nobody else before you, ever has heard me say, You are my one love, my life I live for you, I have but one heart to give to you. (musical interlude) Dicimo o mari, facimu l'amore, A curi a curi che ci passa, Ca u mare parla e na' carezza, Ma a tia la brezza, fina murir. You are my one love, my love I live for you, I have but one heart to give to you.
In one of the most vitriolic spewings of racist dialogue ever delivered on the big screen, big-shot Hollywood producer Jack Woltz (played masterfully by veteran character actor John Marley) delivers his retort to mob attorney Tom Hagen's (Robert Duvall) declaration of heritage.

'PR' Godfather's Favorite "Johnny Fontane"
Although this was composed in 1928, it is most famously known today due to it's inclusion in a very famous film. "Mr. Woltz, I'm a lawyer, I have not threatened you..." "I know nearly every big lawyer in New York! Who the hell are you?" "I have a special practice. I handle one client. You have my number? I'll wait for your call." No idea? The Godfather - Part One, where Thomas Hagen flies to LA to see Jack Woltz about Johnny Fontane being in his new war movie. The song playing in the background is Manhattan Serenade.
Al Martino performs his hit "Volare" in this rare music video, filmed in the Italian Alps in 1976. This renditon of "Volare" climbed to Number 1 on the disco charts in France, Germany and Italy. Recorded in the early days of the disco music genre, this pioneering video was produced by Mike Curb, who is now recording Tim mccraw, Faith Hill, Wynona and many other Nashville country music superstars. For his performance on this and other music videos, Al was given the "Jackie O " award in Rome, Italy.
Al Martino's televised appearance in Berlin (2006). Supported by a rich orchestral accompaniment and featured in a lavishly produced live-on-stage setting, Al performs a beautiful medley of his popular hits "Volare", "Listen to Your Heart", and "Come Share the Wine". This program also includes a brief interview with Al, who closes the show to a standing ovation with a rousing performance of his signature hit song, "Spanish Eyes".
