In the early part of 2009 in Afghanistan a reporter for The New York Times, David Rohde, with an Afghanistan reporter, Tahir Ludin, and an Afghan driver Asaduliah Mangal went to conduct an interview with a Taliban leader. - The Taliban leader instead of granting the pre-arranged interview conducted a kidnapping of the three. The New York Times (NYT) made a request to the US news media and the news media throughout the world not to report the story. They claimed security reasons. The world news media respected the request and did not report the kidnapping for seven months. After seven months when the reporter escaped his Taliban captors, that is when the world media released the story. Rather nice the media respected the wishes and sensitivity of The New York Times. Recently in Afghanistan a photographer with the Associated Press (AP) witness a United States Marine (USMC) named Lance Corporal Joshua Bernard (21 years old) being mortally wounded. As soon as the Marine was wounded through the process of his Marine buddies tending to his wounds, the photographer kept taking rather graphic and gruesome photographs. The Marine died from his wounds. The Associated Press took the graphic photographs and showed them to the Marine's family.
