The triple Gold Logie winner, who on Friday was named kids favourite and favourite TV star at the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards, tonight stunned his studio audience and no doubt his legion of fans when he announced his show would not return in 2010, The Daily Telegragh reports. It was not on the list of shows Ten promoted at a recent function to announce its programming agenda for next year. But in tonight's show he said: "It's purely my decision. It's not one I've made lightly or flippantly. The timing was right to stop, stand back and see what happens next." Songwriters Cole and Johnson originally introduced the tune in their popular vaudeville act. It was interpolated in the Broadway musical Sally in Our Alley (1902), where it was introduced by Marie Cahill. The song went over so well that she had to reprise it in her next show, Nancy Brown (1903). Many will recognize this as the song and dance duet shared by Judy Garland and Margaret O'Brien in Meet Me in St. Louis (1944). Many of the most popular female vocalists combined contralto voices with a mastery of the newly popular raggy rhythms. Sophie Tucker, Marie Cahill, Belle Baker and others commissioned songs from the African-American songwriters, such as Shelton Brooks and Chris Smith, or from Irving Berlin and those of his younger generation. They often brought their vaudeville specialties with them for Broadway appearances. Marie Cahill interpolated Smith's "He's a Cousin of Mine" into Marrying Mary, where it acted as an anti-After the Ball. "Lilac Wine" is a song written by James Shelton (words and music) in 1950. It was introduced by Hope Foye in the short-lived theater musical revue, "Dance Me a Song." It was covered by Eartha Kitt (1953), by Judy Henske on her first, self-named album (1963), by Nina Simone on her album Wild Is The Wind (1966), was a solo hit by Elkie Brooks and appeared on her album Pearls and later by Jeff Buckley on his début album Grace (1994). It was covered live by Sarah Slean in 1997[1], More recently, the song was covered by Katie Melua on her debut album Call Off the Search (2003). In 2008 it was sung (Jeff Buckley version) at least once as background music in the French film Tell No One. Song Writer, Producer and Performer Alfonso Luis Fors Ferro was born in Havana, Cuba on new year's day, 1955. He left Cuba at the age of 5, and lived in the USA for another 5 years. I took several pictures of the film we were shooting on June 15. This scene takes place at the beginning of the short independent film. But this scene was shot last after they did all the filming of the movie.
