Ezekiel's vision of the Divine Throne above the Four Living Creatures with their "wheels within wheels": "And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber, out of the midst of the fire. ... Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. ... As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle. ... As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning. ... And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of great waters, as the voice of the Almighty, the voice of speech, as the noise of an host." ~ Jung's last work, the essay was written to explain the Jungian approach to the lay audience. It's ripe with examples, which are simply and brilliantly read by Lopez-Morillas.
The Latin root of animus is cognate with Greek anemoi (wind), breath and Sanskrit aniti (he breathes). The root of these and a related cluster of concepts affirms the declaration of Thales: "Everything is full of gods." The word anima may come from the Proto-Indo-European language root *ane- ("to breathe"), from which animal and animation also originate. In Italian, Spanish and Catalan, anima is most closely translated as "soul," while in Latin, animus and anima may both be translated as "soul" or "mind," depending on context. ~ The anima is the female aspect present in the collective unconscious of men, and the animus is the male aspect present in the collective unconscious of women. Together, they are refered to as syzygy. [In broadest terms, syzygy is a kind of unity, especially through coordination or alignment, most commonly used in the astronomical and/or astrological sense.[Syzygy is derived from the Late Latin syzygia, "conjunction," from the Greek σύζυγος (syzygos). In Greek "syzygy" also means "husband and wife."] The anima or animus is the archetype through which you communicate with the collective unconscious generally, and it is important to get into touch with it. It is also the archetype that is responsible for much of our love life: We are, as an ancient Greek myth suggests, always looking for our other half, the half that the Gods took from us, in members of the opposite sex. When we fall in love at first sight, then we have found someone that "fills" our ...

This is a remix of the weel known Eleftheria Arvanitaki song "Ton Erota Rota" also known as "Ma de se lene Gianni". I kept the vibe of the original meldoy and used some of the vocals pretty much as the where for the hook, but filtered away the original beat and redid the drums & rhythm in a more contemporary R&B style. Plus some added string stabs bring in the required emphasis on certain points, but leaving plenty of space for the vocals as this is actually just an instrumental. The arrangement was also changed to a typical Hip Hop Verse Chorus structure. John Freeman's probing interview with the 'worlds greatest Psychiatrist' Carl Jung, on the BBC program Face to Face. Provides us a very rare glimpse into the Swiss psychiatrist's personal viewpoints and sheds insight into a little his pioneering work. Face to Face was the first program on British television to unmask public figures and show what lies beneath the surface. Harsh lighting and close-up camera angles were employed to capture each flicker of emotion, a method critics referred to as "torture by television." Among those who submitted to Freeman's remorseless scrutiny were Evelyn Waugh, Henry Moore, Bertrand Russell, and Carl Gustav Jung. When Carl Jung consented to be interviewed, the medical community was surprised that this very private figure was suddenly willing to allow an interviewer into his personal space. When the program was first aired in 1959, Jung himself was taken aback at the unexpectedly positive response from the general public. This strong interest in his work inspired Jung to write his final work, Man and His Symbols, his theory of the symbolism of dreams, explained in lay terms so as to be accessible to all who would come seeking answers.ed in lay terms so as to be accessible to all who would come seeking answers.

In this weeks 7 minute video blog below, Dr. Stein answers the question "what did Jung mean by the age of the Holy Spirit?" Jung saw an evolution of the tension of opposites being transcended into the fullness of the Holy Spirit. He starts with the Old Testament "God the Father," then progresses to the New Testament "God the Son." These plolarities are eventually transcended into the "Holy spirit" Watch this brief video piece as Dr. Stein describes how the "Age of the Holy Spirit" comes into being.
In response to Carl Jung's "Man and his Symbols" I made a short clip of a how a single song triggers a number of subconscious thought and memory. When I hear the song "Atoms for Peace" by Thom Yorke my immediately conscious thought reverts back to everything I remember about the song and the first time I heard the song. Jung pointed out in his first chapter that many things that we see in are picked up subconscious and stored away without our even knowing it consciously. The short clip the interpretation of this idea in action. Resources: Carl Jung's Book: Man and his Symbols Thom Yorke's "Atoms for Peace" The Earths Rain :)

In 1945, shaken by the terrible revelations of the war that was ending, two men became caught up in a shared mission to transform the spiritual and psychological life of the western world. Driven by this enormous vision, CG Jung and Victor White, each a master in his field, agreed to work together on the borderlands of psychology and religion. They risked much on the venture. White, especially, risked his career as a Dominican theologian and arguably his life. In time it became clear that, in their irresolvable debate about the problem of evil, they faced a major stumbling block. This argument revealed the true depth of the chasm between their thought-worlds. Their friendship survived many bruises but, with Jung's Answer to Job and White's published response to it, the relationship broke almost beyond repair. Taken as a whole, their story is a tragedy. But like all classical tragedies, it has vital interludes of laughter and healthy glimpses of eros - both profane and sacred. This 2 DVD set includes the 90 minute performance based on a careful selection of letters exchanged between Professor Carl Jung and Father Victor White. It is an unforgettable experience of drama and intellectual stimulation as the story of this rich and multifaceted relationship unfolds. The second DVD contains a lively 2 hour teaching seminar from Dr. Murray Stein, one of Zurich's foremost Jungian analysts. It also contains over an hour of in depth interviews with the primary actors and actresses ...

In the first section of Carl Jung's Red Book he dives into the question of how he is living his life. He feels torn between two powerful forces within his soul. He calls them "the Spirit of the Times" & "the Spirit of the Depths". In this week's 3 minute video blog Dr. Murray Stein describes these two spirits. Under what spirit does our society live? In what spirit do you live?

On Friday January 22, 2010 the Asheville Jung Center hosted a live seminar with Dr. Murray Stein, one of the world's foremost Jungian Analysts out of Zurich, Switzerland. This 3 hour seminar explored some of the deep mysteries of Carl Jung's then recently released Red Book. One of the most carefully guarded Jungian tomes, the Red Book, contains the record of Jung's most personal journey, a journey that brought him to the confluence of brilliance and insanity. With painstaking detail, numerous paintings, images, dialogues and reflections were recorded, revealing his rich archetypal world. It holds the inspiration for much of his pioneering theories and clinical techniques. The Red Book had been locked away for almost one hundred years because of its revealing and raw exposure of Jung's soul. Decades of negotiations with Jung's heirs led to its release. Jungian groups around the world will be exploring this book. Don't miss this opportunity to learn more about this alluring text from one of the leading Jungian analysts.
In this ground breaking seminar, recorded live from Zurich during the inaugural event of the Asheville Jung Center, we examine a core issue in Jungian psychology known as Individuation. Individuation is a lifelong developmental process that usually involves separating from parents, establishing success in love and work, integrating disowned parts of one's self, breaking away from societal and family expectations, listening to ones unconscious, and finding an ultimate wholeness and balance in life. In this approximately 2 hour video Dr. Murray Stein, one of the worlds foremost experts on Jungian Psychology leads us through an extensive exploration of the concepts of individuation. He begins by looking at individuation as a life long process having crucial milestones in birth, childhood, adulthood, midlife, late adulthood and old age. He speaks extensively regarding Carl Jungs notion of the first & second halves of life and how the individuation coarse is quite different. He discusses Erich Neumann's three stages of Individuation (Matriarchal, Patriarchal, & Individual) and how these fit into the Jungian model. Visit us a AshevilleJungCenter.org
Dr. Murray Stein & Dr. Paul Brutsche, renowned Jungian analysts from Zurich, conclude the final seminar in a four part series entitled "The 4 Pillars of Jungian Psychotherapy" hosted by the Asheville Jung Center. In doing Jungian oriented psychotherapy Dr. Stein envisions 4 central themes of treatment. These include 1) the concept of Individuation; 2) the Therapeutic Relationship; 3) Dream Analysis; and 4) Active Imagination. This concluding DVD set takes an in-depth look at the 4th Pillar, namely the Jungian technique known as Active Imagination. In the classic form of Jungian psychoanalysis, active imagination played a key role as a method for engaging the unconscious and for promoting the more advanced stages of the individuation process. An important tool in the practice of active imagination was and remains making pictures. Using pencil, pen, paint, clay and other means of expression, the practitioner gives concrete reality and embodiment to the images generated in active imagination. This seminar examines how the method came into being, how it is used, and how it has evolved during the past several decades into its contemporary forms. Murray Stein introduces the method of active imagination and Paul Brutsche shows how the making of pictures is interpreted within the context of long-term Jungian psychotherapy. This 4 hour seminar was held simultaneously in numerous sites throughout North America and Europe on August 7th, 2009. Dont miss this opportunity to learn from ...
