This is Kaitlyn Maher when she was 3 years old. This is the video that began Kaitlyn's journey. ------------------------------------------------------- When Kaitlyn was 18 months old, her parents thought she might have a problem: She never stopped singing and always sang herself to sleep. Worried that she wasn't getting enough sleep, her parents took her to the pediatrician. The diagnosis: She just loves to sing. When Kaitlyn was 3, relatives in Canada asked whether she would come sing at a birthday party. Kaitlyn's mother was pregnant with her second child,so the Mahers couldn't go, so they said they'd send a video of Kaitlyn singing. After the video wouldn't e-mail, her parents resorted to YouTube. Five months later, her father received a call from NBC's "America's Got Talent," asking Kaitlyn to audition for Season 3. Her Parents debated the idea -- Kaitlyn had never been onstage -- but Kaitlyn was excited. On the way to New York, she told her parents that she wanted to see "the sparkles come down" at the finale. "Okay, sweetheart, just try your best and have fun," answered her father. "Daddy, I'm going to ask Jesus," Kaitlyn responded, bowing her head to ask Jesus to let her see the confetti fall at the night the winners of the show are announced. On the episode when she was introduced to audiences across America, she walked to the big "X" at center stage as the audience and judges smiled. Holding the corner of her pink dress with one hand and a microphone with the ...

She was born on May 24th,2008 weighing 5lbs 5oz. We thou...ght she was a normal healthy baby. On July 12th,2008 we got the most devestating news that our daughter has a congenital heart condition called "Double inlet left ventricle" also known as "Single ventricle." We were flown up to the University of Minnesota Childrens Hospital Fairview in Minneapolis, MN. Three days after being there she suffered three strokes that resulted in her now having a lot of brain damage, epilepsy and in the feature she will probably have cerebal palsey and may never be able to walk. She underwent her first open heart surgery on July 23rd, 2008 at 7 weeks old. She almost didnt make it. She was on the ECMO Machine (Artificial Heart and lung bypass machine ) for a week and a half and she was on the ventilator for 3 weeks. On September 26th,2008 we were finally dishcharged to come home. On June 24th,2009 she underwent her second open heart surgery. This one went very well. She was only in the hospital for 10 days. She will have to have one more open heart surgery in the next two years with a possible heart transplant in the next 15 or 20 years. She's one remarkable baby and she's taught us so much. We cherish every moment with our daughter and we wouldnt give her up for the world. She means everything to ...

Kaitlyn and Zach had plans - he was going to be a doctor and she a nurse. Zach's encounter with a rabid bat ended their plans. Don't go near animals in the wild. If you do have an encounter with a wild animal, get medical attention immediately. If you wake up and there's a bat in your room, assume you've been bitten - get medical attention right away. Kaitlyn Asley Maher. Just turned 4 and is a Very Good Singer... Here are the lyrics of the song she's gonna sing... Somewhere out there beneath the pale moonlight Someone's thinking of me and loving me tonight Somewhere out there someone's saying a prayer That we'll find one another in that big somewhere out there And even though I know how very far apart we are It helps to think we might be wishing on the same bright star And when the night wind starts to sing a lonesome lullaby It helps to think we're sleeping underneath the same big sky Somewhere out there if love can see us through Then we'll be together somewhere out there Out where dreams come true Excellent Performer without stage fear. Please leave comments -Asad.

Kaitlyn has Hypophosphatasia (soft bones) and a non-specific connective tissue disorder that lies somewhere between Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (loose joints and "sensitive" skin) and Osteogenesis Imperfecta (brittle bones). She has also been diagnosed with Periventricular Leukomalacia (death of the white matter of the brain from a lack of oxygen at or around the time of birth), very mild Cerebral Palsy, Craniosynostosis (premature closure of one or more of the fibrous joints between the bones of the skull before brain growth is complete) secondary to Hypophosphatasia, and mild bilateral Pelviectasis. It is not uncommon for children with genetic disorders to be predispositioned to other disorders or conditions. We were told by our local Doctors that she would likely never walk and would never be a champion amongst other asinine comments. Needless to say she does in fact walk and is our amazing little champion!!!
