Union Pacific's Marysville Subdivision Volume II (DVD) The Marysville Sub is one of Union Pacific's busiest routes, supporting tremendous traffic between Gibbon Junction, Nebraska, and Kansas City. In Volume II, we pick up the action at Marysville, Kansas, the crew change point for this 228-mile stretch of heavy duty railroading, and follow the line east to Kansas City. The action is unsurpassed and train meets are plentiful as up to sixty trains a day work across the single-tracked portion of the line. At Topeka, the action gets even better. Southern Pacific's "Cotton Rock" line shares track with Union Pacific from here to Kansas City. The final sixty-seven miles are all double track and the trains race along the bottom lands of the Kansas River. Heavy coal trains, drag freights, and fast intermodal trains ply the line. UP's newest motive power is on display, with both GE and EMD "AC" diesels on the point of many trains. Unit coal trains are seen operating with distributed power, and visiting diesels from other railroads are viewed heading up other trains. Glorious scenery and high density action fill the screen in our exciting tour of the Union Pacific's Marysville Sub!
I am driving south of downtown Kansas City Missouri, getting back into the Crossroads arts district after storm chasing to the east and North of the metro area. I go south on Broadway, east on 16th past the new performing arts center which is under construction, south on Baltimore and West on 18th. The hip hop crowd has taken over the street and they don't like to move for any traffic. I park across from YJ's, which is finishing up from their sidewalk performance.
Was a beautiful day the sky filled with clouds added to the scenery of trees, roads, buildings, traffic , houses, etc. The song that starts at 3:31 is called "Home" by Above and Beyond. It is an unusual techno/new age song that has a beautiful woman's voice. Driving starting from side streets going to 83rd East then to State Line Road going south to Interstate 4-35 Highway then traveling west until Antioch Road then whipping around back on 4-35 going back to State Line.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. Two people are in custody after a 45 minute high speed chase that started in the Northland and ended in Kansas. According to KCMO Police spokesman Darin Snapp, an officer was observing a 39-year-old man from Independence, Mo., in the area of 89th and North Oak Monday afternoon. A computer check revealed that the man has multiple felony warrants from Kansas and Missouri. When the officer attempted to make contact with the man around 5:15 pm, he and a female passenger fled in a red Jeep near Interstate 29 and Barry Road in the Northland. Police later discovered that the Jeep was stolen. Police say speeds were between 50 mph and 100 mph and the female passenger was armed during the chase. The Jeep traveled in the westbound and eastbound lanes of 152 Highway. The Jeep also went through a few residential backyards and plowed down some fences. Witnesses ran inside for safety. "I was scared and didn't know what to do," said Rose Shuckahosee, who lives in the Northland. "Our first instinct was just to get out of the way," said Jim Kane, who also lives in the Northland. "My wife and I were somewhat scared because we were standing outside. We heard all the police cars and helicopters then went back inside the garage because we didn't know what was going on." Officers pursued the Jeep for a short time but due to traffic congestion, they were forced to terminate the pursuit. The police helicopter continued to follow the Jeep. Highways have reopened in the Kansas City area after an afternoon snow squall caused dozens of accidents. Dozens of weather-related crashes have shut down stretches of several highways in the area. The largest accident involved upwards of 40 vehicles in a massive pileup on Interstate 70. The University of Kansas Hospital reported 15 people were transported to their hospital and five were admitted, most of them apparently from a second pileup on Interstate 35 involving more than 20 vehicles. None of those that were transported has serious injuries. On northbound Interstate 35 at 87th Street in Lenexa, a multi-vehicle wreck shut down traffic. No serious injuries were reported. At least 20 vehicles were believed to be involved in the wreck. Kansas Highway Patrol officials closed westbound Interstate 70 at the K-7 highway interchange due to the largest pileup. In addition to dozens of cars and trucks, two Greyhound buses were involved, reports CBS affiliate KCTV in Kansas City. Traffic was backed up as far as a mile and officials shut down the highway in both directions for several hours. Two sets of accidents on I-435 near the Kansas River slowed traffic and wrecked at least five vehicles. Authorities are urging motorists to use caution as falling snow makes driving more difficult. Called ready number 2 behind and waited. and waited some more. and then the guy behind us said "I think Bluey 737 has technical issues can we go ahead" to which we protested, and were then told to hold because someone else was inbound. After watching a British Airways 744 land we were lined up on the runway awaiting the 744 to vacate. He called clear (with half his tail end still in the runway) but before long he was clear and we were cleared for takeoff with a Right turn after departure. Gear up, 500ft, Right turn... and away we went. Up at FL380 I suggested we take some track shortening to regain some of that nearly 30 minutes of delay time and as a result cut a few corners on the route. Eventually Nic Came in and picked up my Camera to film the landing into Fargo. No STARs at Fargo, only IAP's so we briefed the ILS runway 18 expecting vectors or a visual approach. Got offered the Visual approach and accepted as weather was good with no cloud below about 20000ft. Myself flying, I came off autopilot late downwind, and turned in for the visual approach with about a 4 mile final to place the jet on Runway 18.
