No overload of foul language, but lots of annoying commentary, and ADHD-esque filmography. This storm came out of nowhere, and trampled across the city like it was trash. No tornado warnings were issued, but with all of the damage done (including a trampoline going airborne and into a tree), it sure LOOKED like a tornado would have gone through. As you can hear me say in the video, the camera makes the outside look a lot lighter than it was, and it really did..... it was practically black at my place.

Here's a new spring weather image spot that I put together. I shot it over 2 days, using some people that I knew, but mostly using people that I found while just out wandering around. It was fun getting all of the footage and meeting all of the people that I did. Most everyone was really happy to be a part of the project. This is a 60 second spot, and although I didn't shoot it with a 60 in mind it still works pretty well. If I had known that we'd make a 60, I'd have given myself more variety in the shots to choose from!
KCTV 5's new ad campaign promises fewer interruptions and dumbed down forecasts.

We needed to come up with a third part to the snow day series to air in the superbowl, and this seemed like a natural evolution of the story. I shot it in one night, frantically edited it the next day, and on the air for Sunday.
Here's a more POP-y version of a winter news image spot that I put together. I liked the way this one came out.
Just a nice little image spot to show off after one of the worst series of snowstorms that I can remember hitting Kansas City in a long time. I made a second version the following week, so you can look for that one too.
This is part 2 of this series of spots. We got such a great response from the first version with the kids that we knew we needed to make a parents version. I shot this one over a weekend using my wife, our neighbors, and some friends. I think that the response that I got from this version was even better than with the first version. Something about these spots hit a nerve with people. Special thanks to my wife for going so over the top in her parts. She really was screaming and slamming her coffee cup in the kitchen. The baby freaked out every time we did a take, so thanks to Gunnar for putting up with Mom's acting.
I would love to take all of the credit for this spot, but this was actually based off a spot that was sent to me by my GM. So, with virtually no budget, I went off with my dumpy camera and a cheap set of lights and shot this with friends and family. We got such great response from this one that we've turned it into a bit of a series. Part two was shot a week later, and part three is set to premiere in the Super Bowl. I can easily say that I've never gotten such response from viewers and co-workers over a set of spots. I've had tons of emails and even viewers calling me on my office line to tell me how much they love the spots. It's kind of crazy.

"Teddy T" aka Ted Textor a former weather man at the TV station I work at on his last day before moving to Florida. He is in front of the weather "wall" where we superimpose the graphics. If you look at the monitor across from him you can see what it looks like on air. This is the second upload as I have finally figured out how to rotate the video.
