This scene is in the movie, but this specific dialogue & actions are exactly as written in the book...This took me a lot longer than the grade will probably be worth. Oh well, not like I wanted to...you know NOT do schoolwork on my 4 day weekend...why that would be...FUN...Ugh.
Not to sure he also didnt thank the writer of the book which made the movie possible Ken Kesey but its hard to think of all those names looking at thousands of people so you cant blame the man

As a New Year's resolution for 2008, I decided to try to read fifty books over the course of the year - I succeeded (just!), and here is the list of books I read, along with some scattered thoughts. (Sadly, my final opinion of some books was coloured by how difficult it was to prop them upright to take their photos - I'm looking at you, Animal Farm! The objects used to prop up troublesome books were chosen for maximum entertainment/interest.) --- 1. American Gods, by Neil Gaiman 2. The ...

Amazing book. While it doesn't go in depth about the social criticism of this book, here's the synopsis on the back: "In this classic novel of the 1960's, Ken Kesey's hero is Randle Patrick McMurphy (not true, actually. No matter what anyone says, the main character is Chief!!), a boisterous, brawling, fun-loving rebel who swaggers into the world of a mental hospital and takes over. A lusty, life-affirming fighter, McMurphy rallies the other patients around him by challenging the ...
The American Novel Since 1945 (ENGL 291) At the very beginning of the course, Professor Hungerford offered students the opportunity to pitch a novel of their choice to fill the final spot on the syllabus. Today six students rise to that challenge, presenting their arguments for why each book would complete the intellectual trajectory established thus far. While the Teaching Assistants tally the results of the class vote, Professor Hungerford provides some final thoughts about the theme of ...

. American Haiku (Copyright 1959) "The American Haiku is not exactly the Japanese Haiku. The Japanese Haiku is strictly disciplined to seventeen syllables but since the language structure is different I don't think American Haikus (short three-line poems intended to be completely packed with Void of Whole) should worry about syllables because American speech is something again...bursting to pop. Above all, a Haiku must be very simple and free of all poetic trickery and make a little picture ...

This is a class project completed by an 11th grader. As a high school English teacher, I assigned a mini-project for which my students were asked to select a "teachable moment" from one of the books that our class was reading. Each student needed to select a turning point in his or her chosen book, and then come up with a novel way to teach the "moment" to the class. Kids created posters, skits, and powerpoints to share these main ideas with the class. This student chose an important turning ...
