On 12 November, 1993 In the semi-finals, Gracie fought Ken Shamrock, who showed excellent grappling skills in his first-round submission win over Patrick Smith. Gracie immediately rushed Shamrock, who sprawled effectively and got on top of Gracie. Shamrock then grabbed Gracie's ankle and sat back to attempt the same finishing hold he used to finish his first match, but Gracie rolled on top of him and secured a rear choke that forced Shamrock to tap the mat in submission.
"A lot of people love to see some of these guys that actually started this thing whole thing and still got some fight left in us. It's nice for us to be able to go out there and be able to fight and have fun doing it and that's what I'm doing now. I enjoy this so much. I enjoy the training, I enjoy the competition and the thrill that you get going to the ring, and then of course after the fight, with the victory, even the defeat, of all the emotions that you get with this. So it's something that I really enjoy and I want to continue to do as long as I can...I'm retiring from trying to be a world champion, but I'm not retiring from fighting," stated legendary mixed martial artist and UFC Hall of Famer Ken Shamrock as he talked about his clash with Pedro Rizzo this Saturday, July 17, in Sydney, Australia. You don't want to miss what else he had to say in this exclusive as Shamrock touches on a number of subjects, including steroids, the current state of MMA and much more. Check it out!
In part 2 of this exclusive interview with The Fight Nerd, MMA legend Ken Shamrock explains his side of the story on UFC 9, where he fought Dan Severn for 35 minutes and lost by decision in a dull match. Ken tells us if this match was strategic or just boring, and also gives his thoughts on Frank Shamrock retiring, why he thinks mainstream athletes are now fighting in MMA, and why he doesn't watch MMA on TV. Plus, retirement - when will Shamrock hang up the gloves for good?!
Ken Shamrock talks about returning to the ring for Impact FC MMA. The interview takes place at Ken Shamrock's Gym Lion's Den in Reno, NV. Follow Impact FC @ www.twitter.com Like us @ www.facebook.com Official Page: www.impactfc.net
Living legend in MMA Ken Shamrock talks with The Fight Nerd about his upcoming fight against Pedro Rizzo at Impact FC 2 in Australia on July 18. Shamrock discusses his strategy, if ring rust will be a problem and how he expects the fight to unfold. We then talk about his recent interview on HDNet's Fighting Words with Mike Straka and clear up some things he mentioned about steroids and who he thinks is really responsible for their use in MMA, as well as why steroids should be allowed to some extent. Stay tuned for part two of this interview!
After a long rivalry Ken Shamrock and Steve Blackman went head to head in a Lions Den match.

The Ultimate Fighter 3 was the third season of the mixed martial arts reality television series The Ultimate Fighter. It premiered on April 6, 2006, immediately after the conclusion of Ultimate Fight Night 4. The season featured sixteen fighters (eight light heavyweights and eight middleweights) with still-feuding former champion Tito Ortiz and Ken Shamrock as coaches. The finale aired on June 24, 2006 and tied the UFC's all-time record with a 2.0 overall rating.[1]. There were several rule changes from the previous Ultimate Fighter seasons. There were to be no team challenges. All fighters would have to win a preliminary match before advancing to the semi-finals—which in practice started the single-elimination tournament at the beginning of the series instead of near the end. The first preliminary match was set by the team who won a coin toss. All subsequent first-round match-ups were set by the team that won the previous match. Each fight was set for two rounds instead of the normal three. If there was a draw after two rounds, the match would go to a final, five-minute tiebreaker round. In such a case, the judges' final decision on the match would be based solely on the third round (unless the fight was stopped by the referee before the end of the round). Coaches were allowed to bring two other assistant coaches to assist with training, whereas in previous seasons, assistant trainers hired by the UFC worked for both camps. This series of The Ultimate Fighter was also ...
Ken Shamrock vs Patrick Smith from UFC 1 the Beginning. Ken shows the importance of submissions and ground fighting in this fight. This video belongs to UFC 1 the beginning and I do not own it in any way, it is uploaded for entertaining purposes only. Thanks
Ken Wayne Shamrock (born Kenneth Wayne Kilpatrick on February 11, 1964) is an American mixed martial arts fighter and UFC Hall of Famer. He is best known for his participation in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Pancrase, and Pride Fighting Championships. He is also a former professional wrestler, best known for his participation in World Wrestling Federation. Shamrock was the first UFC Superfight Champion; the title was eventually renamed the UFC Heavyweight Championship when weight categories were introduced to the UFC. In the opening seconds of the fight, Smith came forward and threw a leg kick, but Shamrock shot off the kick for a double-leg takedown and put the striker on the canvas. Following some ground and pound, Shamrock seized Smiths right leg and dropped back, applying a heel hook. In seconds, Smith screamed in agony and tapped out. "When something is taken from you, you lose everything...everything I trained for, everything I had wanted...you get so hyped up for it, and now it's gone!" Shamrock said.[9] Controversially, alternate Steve Jennum took his place in the final and won the title, having not fought previously. Shamrock was unable to compete in his much desired rematch with Gracie at UFC 4 either, as he was fighting in the King of Pancrase Tournament to determine the first champion of Pancrase. Shamrock faced and defeated Alex Cook and future UFC Heavyweight Champion Maurice Smith in the opening round, and defeated some of the best Japanese grapplers ...

Here is another match from 1998, The cage match between The Rock, Ken Shamrock and Mankind. The video kicks off with a promo battle between The Rock and Mick Foley, please take into account the usage of "shoot" vocabulary Mick Foley uses when slating the peoples elbow (abortion is wrestling lingo for a move that has been butcherd in some fashion and to sell is to react to the move. though note after taking the move in the match, Mick actually does sell it.) This is another prime example of great matches that have been lost over the years, everyone in this match works SO hard. It's no spot fest like most cage matches in this era were, but the few spots used are well executed and mind blowing. The Rock walks away from this match the most hard working by far, this match was litterally for a shot at the title and Rock proved he belonged in the Main Event by turning an entire arena on his side despite being heel. Mick Foley is a risk taker and although the risk he takes in this match can be considered "tame" compared to his Hell in a Cell near suicide attempt, he really does put it all into this match. The few moves he hits are hit well and the spots that he calls are well set up. Ken Shamrock is probably the most under rated superstar of 1998, although not working as hard as the others. Ken Shamrock puts on another solid display, it's a shame WWE never did anything with him.
Ken Shamrock talks us through his victory at UFC 1 over Patrick Smith. Smith was lauded as not only a TKD black belt, Savate champion and world ranked kickboxer, but also as a feared streetfighter. Shamrock's credentials were as the world's number 1 ranked submission wrestler (shoot-fighter). Smith would later reach the final of UFC 2, losing to Royce Gracie. Shamrock would lose to BBJ ringer Gracie next at UFC 1, but impressed with his skill, and would fight a further 8 times over 3 more years in the UFC, losing only once. He became the UFC's first reigning heavyweight champion, winning the UFC Superfight title, and competing in five consecutive superfights, finally losing by a controversial split-decision. His contract sadly ran out soon after, and he returned to professional wrestling, missing the rest of his prime. The UFC Superfight title was the predecessor to the UFC Heavyweight title, and the shot at the belt was usually earned by previous tournament winners. Ken Shamrock vs Royce Gracie was the first superfight, but despite Shamrock being on top, he could not finish the Brazilian legend within the 36 minute time limit. So the title was on the line in the second superfight, with Shamrock now facing the challenge of previous tournament champion Dan 'The Beast' Severn. Note: this is NOT the fight between Shamrock and Severn where punches were not allowed by the Detroit courts. That was the title fight at UFC 9. This is the first match in Wyoming, with the King of Pancrase and Superfight competitor Shamrock facing the UFC 5 champion Dan Severn. Pride Grand Prix 2000 was the first MMA extravaganza, and Pride pulled off a coup by signing the long retired star of the early to mid 1990's heavyweight division, Ken Shamrock Ken fought in the 'superfight' against Japanese hero Alexander Otsuka, who had beaten legendary Marco Ruas, and had just gone the distance with feared Igor Vovchanchyn, who was due to compete next in the main tournament final. An overlooked classic fight, and a great showing by Ken, whose record went to an official 24 wins, 5 losses and 2 time limit draws, remarkably as most were against world champion opponents. Sadly, though he carried this form and Muay Thai style into his next fight against Fujita, that was where the infamous heart problems occurred, and Ken was never an A grade fighter again
Ken talks us through his title defence in Puerta Rico over feared kimo leopoldo The UFC Superfight title was the predecessor of the UFC Heavyweight title, and it began with Ken vs Royce Gracie. Though neither man was declared a winner, Ken was deemed to have the upper hand, and so fought tournament champion Dan Severn in the next superfight, winning the belt outright. Tito Ortiz & Ken Shamrock begin a little dispute at a press confrence after UFC 48 when Shamrock won a fight against Kimo. It should also be noted that Shamrock had a rematch clause in his contract for the first fight because he knew he had a torn acl going into that fight. The rematch clause was to fight Ortiz again, but Ortiz kept turning down the fight which pissed Shamrock off. Tito Ortiz and Ken Shamrock officially had their rematch July 8th at the Mandalay Bay Event Center. Tito won at 1:18 of the first round of a TKO(Strikes). Tito Ortiz and Ken Shamrock once again had another rematch for the 3rd time and Tito won again showing who the better fighter was. After the fight Ken said he was retiring but not completely.
