September 13, 2009 BREAKING NEWS: Kent Education Association announcing that the have reached tentative agreement with the Kent School District in Washington State. After what seemed like an impass, it was announced at the teacher's rally tonight before a crowd of at least 1000 supporters, interested families, kids and news media. The announcement was greated by loud cheers from onlookers. When the rally began, the tone seemed to suggest to me that teachers were prepared to ignore the Judges order to return to class but in the end, agreement was reached meant school will start in the district, the 3rd largest in the state, on Tuesday, September 15th. Based on a true story. Music written and performed by Tommy. Audio mixed by Kelvin. Video directed by Ryan. BTW: The "nerd" character is expertly acted by Kelvin. Lyrics: I really support all the things the teachers do Like grading papers, drinking coffee, and dealing with kids like you But out of all their talents, skills, and tricks and things I like Theres only one thing that makes me happy to my hearts delight And thats the day the teachers went on strike And I thought summer was already over for good But now Ive discovered that I had misunderstood Apparently theres definitely no end in sight But please dont worry now; I think Ill be alright Cause today the teachers went on strike Now I have this extra time, I dont know what Ill do! Maybe Ill swim, or ski, or box, or just play Halo 2 Wait, maybe I should finish my summer reading tonight? No, maybe not. Instead Ill ride my bike Cause today the teachers went on strike Im paying taxes, so they can hold signs Ill be relaxing, so they can take time Off to break the Judges law That says they have to go back to school Some kids complain that now they miss their friends But I dont because theyre the dumbest people I have ever met You know I dig the teachers cause they do their job fine But the students are another story; to be honest theyre not too bright Cause today the teachers went on strike Smaller classes, three percent pay raise If the law passes, no more snow days Unless we want next summer to be Really short I think its funny how Im not allowed to skip some school But when the teachers do it they seem to look real cool I guess its ok cause its something they think is right But you know I dont really care, Im just gonna party all night Cause today the teachers went on strike By Just Another Day Recording
I've put this together to stitch together what's on my mind re: ILLEGAL Kent Education Association strike. I would encourage you to watch the whole thing, up to and including Judge Andrea Darvas's smackdown of the KEA to defend the Republic juxtaposing the KEA side too. Obviously, there's added applause becuz she deserves it. The only side yours truly is taking is the constitutional side, period. Our Attorney General said no, a judge endorsed by unions said no, and the people are saying no. For public servants to disobey this is quite franky scary for the future of limited governance, which is the essential tenet of an American constitutional republic. Hence activism from this "tea partier".

Just listen... I added some pump-up since he's MY attorney general + some appropriate photos, but here you go. Hopefully them Kent teachers RTB and get back to work instead of hold kids hostage!
The teachers of the Kent School District in Washington went on strike and gathered here at the district office. Over 1000 people showed up, including myself, my boyfriend (Corey) and my mom who is a teacher. They are striking to get better pay, more time with students, and smaller class sizes. The lady with the curly hair and sunglasses is my mom. There are a few shots of Corey, in one he says something about pizza, this is because he works at Dominos. In one scene you can hear everyone ...

want; it's then what they do with it. They need to synthesize it and remix it and take it to the next level. It's like everything is out there, and it's a matter of how you stay adrift in this sea of information. It's sort of like what Jeff Veen was talking about yesterday. There's so much out there. It's how we take this data, slice it into meaningful ways. So we need to make students that are fully prepared for this world, and this is not just in the classroom. Our world at large, which I' ...
