Coach 2399 aka the Smart Bus Demonstrator is a New Flyer D60HF outfitted with many smart bus equipment like automated stop displays and enunciators, passenger counting systems, GPS location system, etc. The smart bus features were demonstrated from October 2001 through January 2002. Cummins M11 engine, Allison B500R transmission. The bus was running on Route 48. I started shooting from the UW Medical Center, along Montlake, all the way up to 23rd Ave and Aloha St as the bus climbed up to Capitol Hill. You can also see other buses like 40-ft Gilligs and Breda articulated trolleybuses. MVI_1628 2009-10-01 161952.mp4

Enjoy your ride onboard bus #5034, a 1990 Breda "Dual-Mode" Diesel-Electric articulated bus operated by King County Metro in Seattle. This unit is preserved by MEHVA, the Metro Employee Historic Vehicle Association, in its original conditions. Back in the Heydays of Breda, over 200 of these "dual-mode" buses roamed through the streets of Seattle providing service to the transit tunnel in downtown Seattle as electric-powered buses. Since 2003, the entire fleet of Breda buses have either been retired or converted to electric trolleybuses. This bus is powered by a Detroit Diesel 6V92TA diesel engine combo with ZF 4HP-590 transmission.

Enjoy your chance to ride onboard this gorgeous piece of German engineering from the late-1970s, preserved by the Metro Employee Historic Vehicle Association (MEHVA) in Seattle, WA! This trip starts near Central Base in the outskirt of downtown Seattle, and we will travel along the I-5 to South Base. Powertrain: Pure German Engineering! MAN D2566 MLUM diesel engine + Renk-Doromat 874B transmission!
Dave Stubblefield filmed out and about on October 2, the first day of in service RapidRide runs. Also included are some of his photos, and I have put a small video together of his work, I hope you enjoy!
King County Metro's new bus rapid transit service, the RapidRide A-Line, was still in testing as of this video (late September 2010). Here, one of the streamlined New Flyer DE60LFA RapidRide buses crosses the wide, diagonal intersection of Kent-Des Moines Road and Pacific Highway South.
King County Metro route 174 was a long-established route running from downtown Seattle to Federal Way. When Sound Transit's LINK light rail line opened to Sea-Tac Airport in 2009, the route was split in half, with the north portion numbered 124. As of October 1, 2010, it has been replaced by Metro's first bus rapid transit route, the A-Line. Here, a New Flyer/Cummins ISL DE60LF hybrid articulated bus picks up and departs the S 176th St RapidRide A-Line station, and a Sound Transit MCI D4500 coach on route 574, the Tacoma and Lakewood express, arrives.
Metro's first bus rapid transit line runs from Tukwila Int'l Blvd station to the Federal Way Transit Center. Here, just a week before opening, one of the new line's streamlined New Flyer DE60LF runs the route on a test run, stopping at S 176th St near Sea-Tac Airport. KCM route 174 stopped here until the A-Line opened, and Sound Transit #574 still does.

The University of Washington Bothell Campus is about 16 miles northeast of Seattle. King County Metro Route 312 is a popular peak-only commuter route that takes downtown workers to their homes in Lake City, Lake Forest Park, Kenmore, and Bothell by way of SR 522 Similar routes include the peak-only 306 and all-day Sound Transit 522. Apologies for the crookedness near the end. I started to get sleepy.
The infamous King County Metro Route 358 Express from Aurora Ave N & N 46 St in Wallingford/North Fremont to 5th Avenue & Wall St in Belltown/Downtown Seattle. This is the portion that makes the 358 an express, going across the Aurora Bridge and the expressway like part of Aurora.
I created this video at www.youtube.com The clips where already posted as individual files. Thanks for Watching!
Enjoy your ride onboard bus #2420, a 1998 New Flyer D60 operated by King County Metro Transit in Seattle, WA. We will be riding onboard route 28 to U District in this video. Please note the fact that there is a substantial amount of time when this bus was stuck at an intersection for two minute-long red lights. For those who would not like to wait, please skip from 1:48 to 2:43, and 3:00 to 4:10. I apologize for the inconvenience. Otherwise, enjoy your ride!
Enjoy your ride onboard bus #2557, operated by King County Metro Transit in Seattle, WA. Very powerful high floor articulated bus, powered by Cummins M11 / Allison B400R5 tranmission. In this video, we will be cruising along the busy Interstate-5 highway during rush hour as the bus operates as route 177, a rush hour commuter express route providing connection from downtown to Federal Way Transit Centre, south of Seattle near Tacoma.
My last video from this amazing trip highlights Seattle's King County Metro, Sound Transit & Community Transit.

Metro's route 17 from Sunset Hill and Ballard becomes the 27 to Yesler Way and Leschi Park in downtown Seattle, but the sign is often changed early while the bus is on Westlake. Here, it stops at Thomas and Westlake while a streetcar on the South Lake Union line turns the corner on Thomas for the one-way section of track on Terry Ave.
A northbound (to Westlake station) Central LINK light rail train arrives and departs Othello station, while King County Metro route 8, also northbound (toward Mount Baker Transit Center, Capitol Hill and the Seattle Center) leaves Myrtle St. & MLK Way.

A King County Metro Transit articulated trolleybus rounds the corner from 5th Ave S to S Jackson St in Seattle's Chinatown. These Breda-built buses are former Transit Tunnel dual-mode buses with their diesel engines removed, and now serve routes 7, 43, 44 and 49 exclusively. This one, coming from Atlantic Base, is most likely heading to a route 49 trip to Broadway and the University District.
Former dual-mode tunnel busses, most of the Italian-built Breda trolleybusses were scrapped, but many had their diesel engines removed in 2006 and were converted to standard electric trolleybusses. They are assigned only to routes 7, 43, 44 and 49. This one on route 7-Rainier Beach arrives at 5th and Jackson in downtown Seattle across from the Internation District Bus Tunnel/Link Light Rail station.
Metro's route 10/12 combined service connects the First Hill and Capitol Hill areas of the city with the Central Business District by way of Pike Place Market, Westlake Center and the Pike/Pine St corridor and the West Edge neighbourhood. Quiet, zero-emission Gillig Phantom electric trolleybusses (ETBs) are operated exclusively on this route, except for some off-peak periods when the occasional diesel Gillig is used. This is one of the most heavily-patronised routes in Seattle proper. Here, I am riding from 1st & Madison to about 3rd & Pike. As the trolley turns on to Pike, the famous Pike Place Market is seen through the back window.
