The piston shows a lot of material that has burnt away. Cylinder wall looks ok but looks can be deceiving. Balance gears have chunks missing. Camshaft looks good. Crankpin seems to look good, but after 40- somethin years; it"ll need to be turned down, I'm sure. From what I've seen, it's been overheated in the past, was burning a lot of oil, and probably knocking like crazy. Seals were also cracked.

This is my BCS 730 powered by a Kohler 8 HP Magnum. I purchased this the winter of 2008 and had it shipped from Redmond WA to my place in Lodi, WI. It was bought to compliment my 850. I mounted the 6 by 12 inch tires only for this project. Most of the time, it runs around on a pair of 4 by 8 stock tires or the 5 by 10s off my 850. It has home-made extensions in order to get the 4 bolt trailer rims to mount. They won't line up without the extensions. I welded a 1 inch piece of solid round stock in the middle to hold standard free weights. The brackets can hold about 100 lbs of weight each side. This was an idea taken from Joel at EarthtoolsBCS.com. It has the Free-wheel devices to help in turning. They have their drawbacks, but I like them alot for use on this machine. I can lock them solid, make them free-wheel, or set them to ratchet either forward or back. Setting them to ratchet takes away reverse, and will allow the machine to get away from you when going down a slope. My 730 also runs a 26 inch tiller I bought out of Montana in the spring, a 28 inch snowblower I bought out of Chicago IL in the winter, a chipper I bought with it, and other attachments. The Plow was bought from Jim at Fields Farm in Bend, OR. He says it's a Mainline attachment. Mainline sold BCS machines under thier name until 1982. BCS then started importing their machines on their own and Mainline started selling SEP machines under the Mainline name. This plow is probably made by a local shop in Ohio ...

Got this old piece of iron from grandma, grandpa left several years ago and the engine had been unused since then, probably 10 or 11 years ago. When I first tried to start, it would not run (nothing) and I suspected it was lack of spark. So I tried another spark plug, but not with much help. Also when turning the engine around by hand it felt like a huge loss of compression, almost none at all. The next step was the ignition system, and discovered that this engine has points and condenser, this might be the cause. I cleaned the points with som fine sand paper and pressured air. THEN, - I got spark! I got it running, and it ran for a couple of seconds. After that, I got the camera and "videoed" the second start... Later while trying to adjust the carb, I noticed that the adjuster screws were rusted stuck, trying to force it I broke the mixture screw :( - I need a new carb... Unknow year produced and unknown displacement, but it is 7HP, ball bearing and ACR (Automatic Compression Release) This explaned the loss of compression.

You remember our Kohler with the dual thrown rods? Well, we bought a used short block on eBay, and got the 25hp V-Twin Kohler Pro all fixed up and ready to put back on the GT5000. First, we took it out to the back yard testing bench and fired here, we quickly learned we had a bit of a problem. Once that was resolved we started it up again, looks like all's well, and soon it will be back on the Craftsman GT5000 and that will make it the second most powerfull motor we have out of 70+ tractors.

Here is the new replacement toilet Kohler sent me in response to the Cimarron Class 5. The Class 6 does apparently have a great rim wash, but unfortunately the product line is fairly new. They only have the two piece Cimarron style which is not at all appealing as the Cimarron one piece design. I wonder if the redesign was in the bowl only. Everything else in the tank looks very similar to our other Class 5 Memoirs Stately design toilet... Either way... Enjoy!

Take a look at our new addition to the fleet: It's a mid 80's Roper GTK-18. It's got a horizontal-shaft Kohler Magnum opossed twin cast-iron motor. We also got another identical tractor for parts with this purchase, as well as a little dumping cart. It's got a 3-speed with a high low range, huge wheels, and this thing weighs a ton, it truly is the KING of the Ropers!
When we bought our Roper GTK-18, the guy also threw in this identical tractor for parts. He said the engine ran, but it had been sitting for a looooooooong time, so we thought we try startin' her up.
