The Missouri Libertarian Party said they support this group. "I think it would actually reduce binge drinking and promote more responsible social drinking," said Wes Upchurch of the Missouri Libertarian Party. "People who drink that are 18, they have ways of getting alcohol," said Craig Dos Santos, a supporter of the proposal. "This will just make it easier but it's not gonna change whether they're gonna drink and drive or not." Michael Mikkelson of Kansas City is the leader of the organization. He has harnessed the support of nearly 9000 college students through the social networking web site Facebook. He is asking them to distribute fliers statewide, meant to stir up the youth vote. David Frazier said he opposes the proposal. "We set that age limit for a reason and I think that is pretty valid," he said.

ASHLAND - A three-year-old found walking across Highway 63 is safe at home after a driver picked the child up and took him to police. The Department of Social Services is investigating the case. Although they will not comment directly on Sunday night's events or the investigation, authorities say standard procedure is to interview the family and those who know them. Ashland Police Chief, Anthony Consiglio, says his department returned the boy to his parents about 15 minutes after a good samartian brought the boy to the station. Consiglio says his department is cooperating with the social services investigation and will make a decision on whether to press charges against the boy's parents once it is complete. Tom Harlin is the man who saved the toddler and says around 9 PM Sunday night, he saw the young boy in a diaper walking along the side of Liberty Lane on Highway 63 with a blanket. He picked the child up and took him to the Ashland Police Department. "As he got into the fast lane I could see his blanket flip up in the air so I knew it was a small child," Harlin said. "I screeched on my brakes to avoid hitting him and he stopped in the median. Screeching the tires kind of stopped him from crossing the other two lanes." Harlin said he was shaken by the incident and when he called his wife, he told her to call 911. She advised him to take the child to the Ashland Police Department.
