But the time since December 8, 2007 has been a twisted road for Kumari Fulbright. We've seen a bizarre mug shot, court outbursts and lots of lawyers. Now, closure as a judge sentenced Fulbright to prison. Pima County Superior Court Judge Michael Miller sentenced her to two years in prison and 6 years probation. After previous court outbursts, Kumari sat quietly speaking only when the judge asked her whether she'd like to say something before her sentencing. "I would just rather you just base how I feel on the letter I wrote, given the circumstances I'd rather not speak," Fulbright told the judge. The prosecution argued Fulbright to this day, doesn't understand or show remorse for what she did - taking part in the kidnapping, robbery and assault of a former boyfriend. Prosecutor Michael Jette had harsh words for the defendant, "She still thinks it's about her. She still thinks it's about her stolen jewelry. She still thinks it's about her being in custody, not the torture and kidnapping and abuse she incurred on Josh Conway."
