After the Nationwide Series battle between Kyle Busch and Brian Vickers, the two had a heated exchange on pit road. Ironically the two had to sit side by side for media interviews in the media center soon afterwards.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway aka the Brickyard held the event which was orginally going to be the Brickyard 400 until a last minute change made it the Solar Energy 400. Bobby Labonte started the weekend well. He was fastest in Practice 1 and backed it up by winning the pole on Thursday. Dale Earnhardt, Jr. just missed the pole but was satisfied with 2nd.
