Chauncey Billups scored a career-high 39 points, including nine 3-pointers, and the Nuggets won 126-113 Friday night, ending the Lakers eight-game home winning streak and improving to 2-0 against them. Billups was 12 of 20 from the floor, including 9 of 13 from 3-point range, and made 6 of 8 free throws to go with eight assists for the Nuggets, who played without Carmelo Anthony for the seventh straight game because of a sprained left ankle. But we feel that we can compete with them. budurl.com lakers up 2-0 Los Angeles Lakers advanced to the nba finals after defeating the Denver Nuggets in 6 games. This will be the lakers' 30th appearence in the nba finals. Winning the championship would be one of the best days of my life. The first time I started watching the lakers was at 15 years old in my house in Boston. My aunt lived in Los Angeles and she was a die hard Magic Johnson Lakers fan. I soon moved to Los Angeles in 1998 and saw Kobe And Shack win 3 straight championships. I will do my best to tape all the games and create highlight videos for this channel so make sure to subcribe. I believe that the series will go 7 and the Lakers will come out on top. Game 4 will probably go to Magic and then Kobe will get fired up to win Game 5. It's going to be a tug-of-war, but I will Kobe Bryant and the Lakers will prevail to win their Championship.
If you are looking for the missed shot by Courtney Lee look at 2:54 LOS ANGELES (AP)—Stopped cold by a pick near the free-throw line, Kobe Bryant watched as Orlandos Courtney Lee headed toward the basket and a shot at history. Bryant was frozen. Suddenly, the Los Angeles Lakers march to a 15th NBA title—and his dream of a fourth—would be much tougher. Lees last-second shot went up, and went out. Lucky. The Lakers remain in control of the NBA finals—just barely. Lee missed a potential game-winning alley-oop as regulation ended, giving Los Angeles another shot it didnt waste. Pau Gasol scored seven points in overtime and Bryant finished with 29 as the Lakers, so dominant in the series opener, survived with a 101-96 win over the Magic in Game 2 on Sunday night. I was obviously relieved when he missed that shot, Gasol said. It could have been a heartbreaker and right now we could be in a totally different situation. If Orlando doesnt come back and win this series, Lees miss may go down as one of the biggest gaffes in finals history. He had a chance to give the Magic its first finals win. We missed it. I dont know what else to say, Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said. We executed well, Hedo made a great pass. Im not trying to be a pain Hedo made a great pass and he just missed it. Orlando may not get a better shot to beat the Lakers. We blew a lot of assignments tonight—a lot of assignments—and we still managed to get a win, Bryant said. When it was finally over, Bryant, Derek ...
DENVER, May 29,2009(AP) One-half of the Kobe-LeBron dream matchup is set. Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers are in the NBA finals for the second straight year and record 30th time overall. LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers will need to win two more wins to join them. Otherwise, it will be Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic on the league's biggest stage. Not as sexy for Madison Ave., but certainly intriguing. Bryant and the Lakers dispatched Carmelo Anthony and the pesky Denver Nuggets with a 119-92 victory in Game 6 of the Western Conference finals on Friday night. "We saved our best game for last here, or maybe we caught our opponent a little bit off stride,'' said Lakers coach Phil Jackson, who gets a shot at his record 10th title. Bryant had 35 points and 10 assists and got plenty of scoring help from Trevor Ariza, Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom as the Lakers shot 57.3 percent from the field to avoid having to play a Game 7 back at the Staples Center. They will finally get some much-needed rest after playing every other day for a grueling two weeks. These Lakers, who are seeking their 15th title, are a more grizzled group - but also more bruised and battered - than the one that fell to Boston in the finals last year. "Now we're in a place where we didn't get the job accomplished last year,'' Bryant said. "Hopefully we will this time.'' Instead of cruising through the West this time, the Lakers survived an arduous seven-game semifinal series against Houston and ...

LOS ANGELES(AP) Kobe Bryant offered himself up as bait and the Denver Nuggets bit. That freed up Lamar Odom and Pau Gasol on the inside, where the Lakers' big men dominated. With Bryant luring double coverage then passing to his teammates, the Lakers owned the fourth quarter in a 103-94 victory Wednesday night that gave them a 3-2 lead in the Western Conference finals. Bryant scored 22 points - on just 13 shots - Odom had 19 points and 14 rebounds despite an aching lower back and Gasol added 14 points and 10 rebounds. "It was a big gamble for me coming in, but I wanted to change my approach this game and be more of a decoy,'' Bryant said after adding eight assists, several out of double-teams in the fourth quarter. "The past couple games they really were loading to my side and I figured I could be a decoy and try to give chances to my teammates.'' Game 6 is Friday in Denver, where the Lakers lost Game 4 by 19 points. "That place is going to be rocking and rolling,'' Bryant said. "We have to stay focused and poised and try to cut them up. Be cold-blooded, go out there and execute.'' Carmelo Anthony scored 31 points, hitting 12 of 13 free throws, and Kenyon Martin and Chauncey Billups added 12 points each for the Nuggets. Nuggets Ties series 2-2
This game was such a fun game to watch. Alot of emotional, physical, and clutch plays. I'll start with the players who stepped up. Pau Gasol and Trevor Ariza both stepped up big. Gasol had 20 points on 7-12 shooting with 11 rebounds. Ariza had 16 points (5-8 fg, 3-5 3pt) with 2 huge 3s in the 4th and a big steal just like in game 1. There were a total 5 techs in the game with a combined 76 attempted free throws, so it was a very physical game. Kobe played just, plain, SICK. Kobe had 41 points (2009 playoff high) on 12-24 fg shooting and 2-5 from long range. Also, The Mamba went 15-17 from the line with 6 rebounds and 5 assts. There was many clutch plays and shots from Kobe and he just took over. This was one of the best games I have ever seen. The Lakers came back down 8 going into the 4th and outscored Denver 32-18 in the final 12 minutes. Lakers took a 2-1 series lead and game 4 will be Monday at 9 ET.

Lakers win game 3, 103 - 97 in the Pepsi Center. LA wins 2-1. Next Game: 5/25 9:00.
Trevor Ariza's clutch steals are punching a dagger in Denvers season just as much as Kobe Bryant's big baskets. For the second time in three games, Ariza stole an inbounds pass in the final minute to help Los Angeles beat the Nuggets, this time 103-97 at the Pepsi Center for a 2-1 lead that restored the Lakers home-court advantage in the Western Conference finals. Ariza, whose steal of Anthony Carter's lazy lob sealed the Lakers win in the series opener, sliced in front of Carmelo Anthony to swipe Kenyon Martins inbounds pass with the Lakers clinging to a two-point lead with 36 seconds left. Anthony fouled out to prevent the breakaway basket and Ariza sank both free throws for a 99-95 lead. Trevor, hes very crafty, hes long, hes fast, hes quick and hes a ball hog, said Bryant, who scored 41 points. He does a good job of reading those things. Its a great defensive play. As he did in the first game, Lamar Odom guarded the inbounds, only this time it wasnt the shortest player on the team he was facing, but the 6-foot-9 Martin trying to get the ball in over the Lakers 6-10 forward. Hes long, look at him, Sasha Vujacic said of Odom. Hes very long. Hes athletic. Hes got eyes behind his ears. He knows how to jump all around the ball. Hounded, K-Mart called timeout, but on the redo, he wasnt so lucky as he led Melo too much with the pass and Ariza snatched away both the ball and Denvers shot at a win for the second time in five nights. It was kind of deja vu from Game 1, Anthony ...
www.nba.com Lakers 103, Nuggets 97 (Lakers lead series 2-1) DENVER(AP) Kobe Bryant's 3-pointer wasn't nearly as dramatic as LeBron James' but equally effective. Bryant's big shot over JR Smith gave Los Angeles a one-point lead with just over a minute left Saturday night and sparked the Lakers to a 103-97 victory over the downtrodden Denver Nuggets for a 2-1 lead in the Western Conference finals. Bryant, who scored 41 points, went 5-of-6 on free throws to ice it after his 3-pointer gave Los Angeles a 96-95 lead. Carmelo Anthony scored 21 points but just three after halftime for Denver, which lost at home for the first time since March 9. He was 4-for-13 in his worst performance of the postseason. Before Saturday night, the Nuggets had been dominant at home in the playoffs. They ran away with all six games at Pepsi Center against the New Orleans Hornets and Dallas Mavericks by an average of 17.5 points. But as Bryant said, "It's the Western Conference finals. It should be close.'' The Nuggets, who led most of the game but were done in by poor decisions and a failure to keep their composure, fell behind by four points when Trevor Ariza stole Kenyon Martin's inbounds pass, was fouled by Anthony and sank two foul shots for a 99-95 lead with 36 seconds left. Chauncey Billups' two free throws made it 99-97, but Bryant sank two more free throws with 22 seconds remaining, Billups missed a 3-pointer and Bryant capped his big night with two more foul shots with 12 seconds left ...
