STEP 4: make sure you go to "settings" on installous app and turn on "dirty" tab and then turn on "itunes friendly" tab -- this allows you to download the apps and allow you to sync them with your itunes. STEP 5: go to alphebetical search on installous homepage and download the first app on the list (doesnt matter what it is). -- click on it -- scroll down past the app info -- click on the latest software download (biggest number) -- choose an ipod friendly link (i choose 4shared if its there) -- work through the site and download the link. STEP 6: click "download" rather than "install" as its quicker -- a couple of secs after clicking "download" button you should have a progress bar and a percentage on top with the kb part next to it eg. 12% of 12345kb at 45.32kb /s (somthing like that) -- if you get a red message that sais downloaded 3034 bytes (something like that) underneath the progress bar then the file doesnt work. All using only Windows software. Youll need 1. Either Aliosa27s 1gb or 2gb disk image posted to the SF page. 2. Aliosa27s latest oe userland image 3. phsydiskwrite (I recommend the GUI version for ease of use) 4. The autoflasher script 5. (if windows cant see the fat partition) Windows ext2 filesystem driver Ready? 1. First, flash the zipit. Extract the autoflasher bundle to a fat16 formatted memory card 2. Open Aliosa27s wireless+x+audio.tar.gz file, and copy out the /boot/linux-2.6.29 file to your memory card 3. Rename this file kernel.bin 4. Boot the zipit with the SD card inserted. If this does not start the linux flash, go to settings-reset to default and it should soft-reset 5. Some SD cards are reported to not work, or not always be seen by the zipit. Try both with and without the power cable plugged in 6. The z2 will boot linux and copy the wifi firmware to the sd card before flashing linux to the Z2 7. Copy off the 2 wireless firmware files gspsi.bin and gpspsi_helper.bin to a folder, you will copy these back to the memory card after we write the image 8. IMPORTANT — rename helper_gspi.bin to be gspi8686_hlp.bin or it will not load later! 9. Extract the 1/2gb image to a folder 10. Extract phsydiskwrite to a folder 11. At the moment, the Ubuntu Software Store is not installed by default in the current development release of the upcoming Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala) distribution, but it can be easily installed by searching "software-store" in Synaptic. The goal of the new Ubuntu Software Store application is to replace many system-administration programs, such as Synaptic Package Manager, Add/Remove, GDebi, Computer Janitor and even the popular Update Manager tool, in order to offer to both the new and experienced Ubuntu users an easier and more intuitive way to search, install, update or remove applications. However, even if the Ubuntu Software Store will be available in Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala), it will NOT replace the aforementioned applications, as the users are still used to them and because the Ubuntu Software Store is still in development!
