'Den Store Bastian' is in the repertoire for Teatret Thailas Tjenere again. It tours in Denmark and the Netherlands throughout 2009. Venues include the heart of Copenhagen at Islands Brygge Kulturhus.
Loz performs once again in the Horse + Bamboo show 'In the Shadow of Trees'. It runs throughout December at the Bury Met. He performs in mask, and as a musician and singer. Direction Alison Duddle.
Performance at Trestle Arts Base following a residency based on contemporary Polish theatre hosted by Trestle Theatre. Residency lead by Anna-Helena McClean and Christopher Sivertsen. Loz performs as musician and singer with Maciej Rychly of Gardzienice. A further performance follows at the Siobhan Davies Dance Studios, London.
Loz presents his sound installation 'The Ocean Misses a Beat' as part of the 'Up the Wall' festival in Chester. The piece is installed in Chester Cathedral.
As part of their 2008 touring programme, Thalias Tjenere perform 'Den Store Bastian' at Århus Festuge- Århus' International Festival. Children's Theatre News review: "With a cheeky touch, Theatret Thalias Tjenere turn the weapons of the child-rearers against themselves, and the result is gruesomely hilarious. The wordless performance mercilessly brings fascistoid tendencies into razor-sharp focus...It's mean like nobody's business, and the girls are the worst. But that's also funny!"
This much loved classic by Roald Dahl runs throughout June at the Royal Theatre in Northampton. Loz Kaye creates the score for an actor/musician staging directed by Dani Parr. 'Sans' is also in the 2008 repertoire for Thailas Tjenere, including performances at the Danish Festival for Children and Youth during April. April 12th sees 3 different Loz Kaye show all performed on the same day- 'Veil', 'Den Store Bastian' and 'Sans'.

Veil is a story of two young women who are brutally separated at birth, but are drawn inexorably back towards one another. The story is set in both colonial and present day Iraq which provides an undercurrent to a powerful, atmospheric story of secrecy, visions and violence.
Veil is a vivid tale of mystery, concealment, revelation - and provides a new and human perspective on the involvement of the West in Middle Eastern affairs. Veil is a powerful, disturbing, thought-provoking and richly evocative piece of theatre.

Loz performs throughout December at the Lawrence Batley theatre Huddersfield in Horse + Bamboo's 'In the Shadow of Trees'. 'In the Shadow of Trees' is a unique magical production with a Miyazaki-like charm. Set in a mysterious woodland, this is the compelling story of a young girl, abandoned at birth, who grows up nurtured by nature alone - a feral child who slowly discovers then loves and protects the natural environment she has been raised in. But one fateful day, she discovers she is not the only human in the woods. Direction Alison Duddle, music Chris Davies.
Loz comes in to the company of Horse + Bamboo's 'In the Shadow of Trees'. During October he performs at the Dukes Theatre Lancaster and at the Stourbridge International Mask Festival. He takes the parts of 'The Boy' and 'The Crone' playing in mask, operates puppets, and plays trumpet, percussion and accordion as well as singing. The production of 'In the Shadow of Trees' won a Manchester Evening News award for Best New Play.
Loz writes incidental music for Alan Ayckbourn's play 'Time of My Life'. It runs during September and October at the Royal Theatre, Northampton. Direction by Laurie Sansom. BBC Northampton- The director, Laurie Sansom has put together a fast-moving, hilarious production and at all times the truth of the characters shines through.
Justin Butcher's community play 'The Firebrand' opens at the Royal and Derngate Theatre, Northampton. It was commissioned for the reopened Royal and Derngate using all 3 performance spaces. It is one of the largest events that Loz has ever created music for, including a choir, and huge community actor ensemble. And singing stalactites from the youth theatre. Direction by Dani Parr.
A sound installation commissioned for the 'Ocean Live Weekend' in Plymouth. This piece lasting about an hour uses sounds of the sea recorded by Loz at Heybrook Bay, where he used to go as a child. The work transforms these samples in to a rhythmic soundscape at turns soothing and alarming.
Danish mask theatre Thalias Tjenere open a new outdoor festival show based on the classic book 'Shockheaded Peter'. Music Loz Kaye, direction Andrew Kim, masks Stephan Vernier. We follow Peter, a messy and wild boy with unruly, uncombable hair and nails which have never seen a clipper. When he wants to be integrated into the ranks of the goody-goods, these "proper" children lead him - and the audience - through Bastian's giant picture book, a journey which takes on the character of a set of grueling trials which are not weathered lightly.

Full Body and the Voice Theatre's production of Ian McMillan's play 'In the Footsteps of Mr Butler' opens at the York Theatre Royal. Thalias Tjenere make a new version of 'Lommeoraklet' called 'I Begyndelsen' (In the Beginning). This tours in Japan throughout august 2005 going to Tokyo, Tottori, Okinawa and Kagoshima. This is part of the festival with the rather unwieldy name 'EU Theatre Arts for Children + Young People 2005 in a Vertical Tour of Japan'.

Opening of 'Cybershopping for Beginners' at the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough as part of the 'micro musicals' season. Loz writes this 1 act musical together with Laurie Sansom who also directs it. This satire on the world of eBay and shopping in general includes tap dancing kitchen utensils and a thumping gospel number... 'A Strange (and Unexpected) Event!' receives a Manchester Evening News Theatre award for 'Best Special Entertainment'.
Horse and Bamboo revive the show 'A Strange (and Unexpected) Event!' for a UK tour. This piece is based on the life of Mexican artist José Posada, bringing to life many of his vivid engravings of skeletons, devils, volcanoes... and a giant snail which has its own song. Script and direction Bob Frith, music and musical direction Loz Kaye.
'Company of Angels' takes Horse + Bamboo in to yet more new territory- the show is taken up by Minneapolis Based theatre group Heart of the Beast. The masks and props are shipped out to the USA, whilst a replica set is built there. Alison Duddle directs, and Loz Kaye's music is used once again. Loz contributes some music and musical direction to this production of the Tenesse Williams play 'Night of the Iguana'. It is presented by Aarhus International Theatre Company, drawing on the students of GITIS Scandinavia where Loz is currently teaching. The show plays in Århus, Moscow and Oslo. Direction by Gytis Padegimas.

'Hr Helmer Går ad Helvede Til' is the latest addition to Danish mask theatre company Thalias Tjenere's repertoire. This is an outdoor piece, a kind of Faust for all the family complete with songs and a giant Karen Blixen. Direction Thorklid Lindebjerg, music Loz Kaye. Loz also performs in this piece along with Stephan Vernier and Anna Panduro.

Based on the life of German Jewish artist Charlotte Salomon and her extraordinary collection of paintings 'Leben oder Teater', this show breaks new ground for the company both technically and emotionally.
