The Laurinda Drake Case in Clark County, Nevada drew national attention because a woman who rescued a lost boy walking on a desert road from the school he was supposed to be at was charged with kidnapping, conspiracy and luring a child. How could a good samaritan's intentions go terribly wrong? www.TobitShow.Blogspot.Com
"Laurinda Drake was acquitted of kidnapping a six-year-old boy near Jo Mackey Elementary School last year. Laurinda Drake grabbed the kid off the street and took him to her friend Elaine Clermont's house as a stunt to show how lax school security was at Mackey Elementary, where her own son went to school. This was a very strange thing to do, because her statement is admission of committing the crime, and kidnapping, no matter what the stated motive, is definitely a crime in all 50 states. Laurinda Drake turned down a plea bargain so she should prove her innocence, even though, technically, she was guilty by her own admission. The jury had mercy on her, though, considering her a well-meaning mom with poor judgment rather than a malicious criminal." Above provided by www.nowpublic.com
Does it pay to be a good samaritan anymore, stepping up and saying something if you witness a crime, or keep quiet for fear of getting killed because you are a "witness"...seeing a child in need of help, or leaving him be because you could be considered a kidnapper or someone with evil intent? Let's talk about it...also, my take on the Serena Williams fiasco Saturday night! www.TobitShow.Blogspot.Com
