Liberty Leading the People (French: La Liberté guidant le peuple) is a painting by Eugène Delacroix commemorating the July Revolution of 1830, which toppled Charles X. A woman personifying Liberty leads the people forward over the bodies of the fallen, holding the tricolore flag of the French Revolution in one hand and brandishing a bayonetted musket with the other. 9/4/2008 Tom Morello, guitarist with rock protest band Rage Against the Machine, spoke out against false flag terrorism on the same day an impromptu performance by the band was shut down by police outside the RNC. Morello spoke briefly to members of We Are Change Tuesday just before appearing at an event being held by independent candidate Ralph Nader in St. Paul, Minnesota. "When the media speaks of terrorism it tends to be in the context of lone bandits from middle eastern countries when most of the terrorism that occurs in the world is government sponsored." Morello told Change reporters. "Whether it's the Bush administration or the Putin administration, terror is not something that is unfamiliar to governments." "It is nothing new," Morello continued, "From Gulf of Tonkin to the Maine, in the Spanish American war, it is something that is embedded, unfortunately, in the DNA of American politics." Earlier in the day Rage announced they would make an unscheduled appearance and perform at the Ripple Effect Day Festival at the Capitol in St. Paul. However, as soon as police got wind of the plans, state troopers were dispatched to the scene, the power was cut and the band were barred from the stage. An official quoted in reports claimed that Rage were prohibited from performing because they were not included on the festival's permit, however the Ripple Effect website insisted that permit "held no artist-specific provisions." As the crowd grew restless, Morello and frontman Zack de la Rocha took to a megaphone and led the protesters in a sing-a-long of some of their hits anyway: Last night the band were allowed to play a pre-arranged show at the Target Center in St. Paul. After the concert ended at 10.30pm riot police had surrounded the building in waiting for protesters who emerged and took to the streets to march and chant. Police reportedly used batons, pepper spray and fired bean bag rounds and tear gas to disperse the demonstrators, in scenes more akin to the streets of communist China. 9/4/2008 Tom Morello, guitarist with rock protest band Rage Against the Machine, spoke out against false flag terrorism on the same day an impromptu performance by the band was shut down by police outside the RNC. Morello spoke briefly to members of We Are Change Tuesday just before appearing at an event being held by independent candidate Ralph Nader in St. Paul, Minnesota. "When the media speaks of terrorism it tends to be in the context of lone bandits from middle eastern countries when most of the terrorism that occurs in the world is government sponsored." Morello told Change reporters. "Whether it's the Bush administration or the Putin administration, terror is not something that is unfamiliar to governments." "It is nothing new," Morello continued, "From Gulf of Tonkin to the Maine, in the Spanish American war, it is something that is embedded, unfortunately, in the DNA of American politics." Earlier in the day Rage announced they would make an unscheduled appearance and perform at the Ripple Effect Day Festival at the Capitol in St. Paul. However, as soon as police got wind of the plans, state troopers were dispatched to the scene, the power was cut and the band were barred from the stage. An official quoted in reports claimed that Rage were prohibited from performing because they were not included on the festival's permit, however the Ripple Effect website insisted that permit "held no artist-specific provisions." As the crowd grew restless, Morello and frontman Zack de la Rocha took to a megaphone and led the protesters in a sing-a-long of some of their hits anyway: Last night the band were allowed to play a pre-arranged show at the Target Center in St. Paul. After the concert ended at 10.30pm riot police had surrounded the building in waiting for protesters who emerged and took to the streets to march and chant. Police reportedly used batons, pepper spray and fired bean bag rounds and tear gas to disperse the demonstrators, in scenes more akin to the streets of communist China. After whittling the crowd down to around 75, police surrounded them, ordered them to the ground and arrested them all. "We are free citizens of America, and we are here because we love our country," said a girl who was leading the crowd, who refused to give her name. 102 people in total were arrested. I find this as one of the most important wildlife issues of the decade. Actually I find this as important as the drilling in ANWR or the eco mess created at Yucca Mountain. It is a very ignorant mentaliity to think that a 700 mile steel concrete wall will have no impact on the ecosystem or endangered wildlife. The Bush Administration has waivered over 30 environemtal laws to construct the wall. Thats right, the governemnt is violating laws to supposively enforce one. Most undocumented workers come into this country through temporary visas and over stay their visit. This wall will do nothing except bring more migrant deaths to people stranded in the desert, waste hundreds of billions of tax payer money, destroy eco-systems, deplete wildlife and most likely bring animal extinction. It is clear that as long as Mexican and Central American people are living in poverty, that the American economy is in need of low cost labor, and that laws continue to be restrictive then illegal immigration will be inevitable. The 20 billion dollars that the U.S. has spent on militarizing the border in the past decade has had no appreciable effect on immigration levels, but it has caused thousands of deaths and untold human suffering. That's 20 billion dollars that could have been spent on education, foster care, healthcare, alternative energy, or any other productive cause. From a conservative point of view, building a fence and trying to prevent immigration is the last thing from being a fiscal conservative. The cost of building and maintaining a double set of steel fences along 700 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border as much as $49 billion over the expected 25-year life span of the fence, according to the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service. Even if the fence is built it won't do a thing to solve the problems leading to illegal immigration along the southern border. If people are in need they will find a way to cross the border. History has proven that with the Berlin wall, Korea, and other instances in the past. Not only is this kind of policy expensive with regards to money but it has also cost thousands of innocent lives. According to Princeton University Professor, Philippe Legrain, "More than ten times as many migrants are recorded as having died on the U.S. border with Mexico over the past ten years than were killed trying to cross the Berlin Wall during its twenty-eight year existence -- and many believe the true number of deaths along the US -- Mexican border is much higher than the official figures". The number of innocent people dying will only rise as long as the American government continues to build this New Berlin Wall along the Southern border. America is allegedly trying to spread democracy and freedom to other parts of the world, yet, liberty in its very own country is diminishing. How can one call a country, with a wall along its border, a free nation? I believe most of the national enivronmental groups are avoiding this issue because they don't want to lose membership or donations by touching the issue of immigration. A true enivronmentalist would stand up against this attrocity being comitted towards animal life. I think its about high time that Earth First or even the ELF come down to the southern border. During a special Knesset session in his honor, US president George W. Bush criticizes deadly the tactics of extremist groups, and (most importantly) denounces anti-Semitism, 'especially by those who question Israel's right to exist.' "Some people suggest that if the United States would just break ties with Israel, all our problems in the Middle East would go away," Bush said in his prepared address. Bush took special aim at Iran and said the United States stands with Israel in opposing moves by Teheran to obtain nuclear weapons. "Permitting the world's leading sponsor of terror to possess the world's deadliest weapon would be an unforgivable betrayal of future generations," the president said. "For the sake of peace, the world must not allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon." ... There was only one mention of a timetable for achieving a Palestinian state in Bush's speech and the only reference to the Palestinians came in a passage envisioning the future of Israel 60 years down the road. "Israel will be celebrating its 120th anniversary as one of the world's great democracies, a secure and flourishing homeland for the Jewish people," Bush said. "The Palestinian people will have the homeland they have long dreamed of and deserved a democratic state that is governed by law, respects human rights, and rejects terror. But I think he spoke for everybody (amazingly) when he said the following: "It is not customary in such events, where protocol plays such a big part ... but I want to tell you, man to man, father to father, family man to family man: In politics one gets to hear many statements, which are duly recorded and filed and then forgotten. [The welcome] you and your wife have received here today, is true and will not be forgotten. And not because it is written in the Knesset's protocols, but because it comes from my heart, from the heart of this house and from the heart of the people of Israel." Join us in the First Annual Natural Icelandic Horse Worldwide Virtual Show! This will be an on-line video show to share our horses, natural horsemanship, and natural gaits with each other, and the rest of the world! Many people around the world are interested in natural horsemanship and natural gaits with their Icelandic Horses. Since we are all geographically spread out, this virtual on-line natural video show helps us share what we are doing with like-minded owners. We are able to share with everyone how responsive, intelligent, willing, and attentive, our horses are. Also, it may help inspire others who may be interested in a natural way with their Icelandic Horses. There are no specific or rules; good / natural horsemanship and natural gaits are the goal. The virtual show gives owners and horses a chance to show others their two-way communication, good partnerships, not dependant upon tack. Have someone take a video of you working / playing with your horse (or set the camera on the fence and turn it on!). Capture some of your natural horsemanship and natural gaits to share with other Icelandic Horse owners around the world. Some of the things you can show are Parelli 7 Games http://iceryder.net/7games.html , any type of natural horsemanship groundwork, such as John Lyons, Bill Dorrance (True Horsemanship Through Feel) http://iceryder.net/future.html , Clinton Anderson; working therapy horse session, horse quietly standing for mounting, bareback, gaiting on a loose rein, trail rides, flexibility and suppling exercises, at-liberty leading, lead-line, jumping, dressage, tricks, trailer loading, obstacle course, vaulting, taking Grandma for a ride around the round pen, etc. Show off your kids with lead-line riding; show off your horses gaiting naturally! Show off your natural horsemanship. Do you have a new foal? Share him and his introduction to natural horsemanship. If you've never been in a show before... not to worry! Don't think about attire, or your weight, or your hair. It's about the ability to have two-way communication with the horse, not dependant upon tack. Tossing out the noseband allows for the horse to tell you if the bit is bothering him or that he doesn't understand how to use it as a method of communication (or that your hands are not so good!). Clicker training? Share it with us! There will be no judging; everyone wins in this show! Everyone is invited, from novice horse owners, to kids, to non-riders, to professional and / or certified trainers and judges. There is no limit to the number of videos that you can submit. The more the merrier! We hope to have people from every country enter the show. There are no fees, no costs; just take a video and upload it to youtube. All of the Natural Icelandic Horse Virtual Show videos will be linked to one page for all of us to share and enjoy.
