KC's Clones: 9/12/10 Liz C. showing Dante Clupepper in Green Reiner 1 at a Jackpot show held by the Western PA Reining Horse Assoc. at Buckhorn Arena in West Sunbury, PA. The team scored a 67.5 placing them second overall in that class!
KC's Clones: 9/5/10 Liz C. showing Dante Clupepper in KC's Ultimate Ranch Race at the Geauga County Fair. I apologize for the poor quality, the lighting in this arena was very dim but you can see some portions of the class. We did have a photographer whose pictures can be viewed and purchased at heritagephoto.smugmug.com under the 'events' tab. Thank you for viewing!

KC's Clones: 8/12/10 Liz C. loping Dante Clupepper amidst a few distractions to help prepare for the races to be held during the fairs. Cowboys Acre is standing hobbled in the arena also.
KC's Clones: 8/12/10 Liz C. preparing Dante Clupepper for KC's Ultimate Ranch Race. Cowboys Acre is standing hobbled in the arena. We practice with many distractions to help the horse focusa on the rider's cues.
KC's Clones: 8/9/10 Liz C. riding Samson in the indoor arena.
KC's Clones: 8/9/10 Liz C. working Samson over a culvert & Cowboys Acre becoming accustomed to the fog machine.
KC's Clones: 8/1/10 Liz C. showing Dante Clupepper in a Green Reiner 2 class. The Green Reiner 2 class differs from the Green Reiner 1 in that you are required to execute 4 step turn-arounds (spins) instead of 2 and do flying lead changes instead of stopping and then departing in the new lead. The rider still has the option of riding 2 handed in a curb bit.
KC's Clones: 8/1/10 Liz C. showing Dante Clupepper in Green Reiner 1 class. This show was held by the Western Pennsylvania Reining Horse Association at Buckhorn Arena in West Sunbury, PA. The green reiner classes are designed as stepping stones to help interested folks get acclimated to the reining pen. Green Reiner 1 requires only 2 step turn-arounds (spins) and a stop where the pattern calls for a flying lead change. Riders are also permitted to ride 2 handed on any age horse, in a curb bit. Liz & Dante scored a 65 in this class.
KC's Clones: 8/1/10 Liz C. warming up Dante Clupepper at a jackpot reining show. This show was held by the Western Pennsylvania Reining Horse Association at Buckhorn Arena in West Sunbury, PA. Liz is preparing to show in the Green Reiner class.
KC's Clones: 7/29/10 Liz C. teaching Dante Clupepper to lay down. This engages the horse's brain and makes him more of a thinking animal and less of a reactive one. Once a horse realizes that you can lay him down at any time, he gets more humble and respective of his handler.

KC's Clones: 7/29/10 Liz C. on Dante Clupepper working the garrocha pole. This is a 12' long pole traditionally used by the vaquero to work cattle, it has developed into an art form to work & control the horse and the pole uniformly, with precision & grace.
KC's Clones: 7/27/10 Harley watching Liz C. using a pressure washer. This accustoms a horse to a noisy object. Liz is pressure washing the tin ceiling of the indoor arena, so Harley is getting desensitized to a variety of sights and sounds, with the noise of the motor running and the sound of the high pressure water hitting the ceiling overhead.
KC's Clones: 7/15/10 Liz C. riding Dante Clupepper catching & ponying Harley.
KC's Clones: 7/15/10 Liz C. on Dante Clupepper trying to catch Harley on horseback. The things hanging on Harley are designed to desensitize her which makes her safer to ride.
KC's Clones: 7/13/10 Liz C. working on spins with Dante Clupepper. The object of this exercise is to establish & maintain forward motion as the circle spirals down smaller & smaller. The emphasis is on the front legs crossing over in the maneuver. As the horse perfects the maneuver, the hind legs will find a central location and it becomes a spin!
KC's Clones: 7/13/10 Kamikaze Longing! Halle P. free longing Dante Clupepper with Liz. C. riding. See the earliest video labeled 'kamikaze longing' for a detailed description of the purpose of this exercise.

KC's Clones: 7/8/10 Liz C. teaching Dante Clupepper to lead by his feet, which means to follow the pressure from a rope tied around his foot. The objective here is to apply a slight amount of pressure and immediately releasing the pressure when the horse moves toward the pressure. This is the first time Liz has done this with Dante she wants to be sure that he just understands the concept of this lesson, check back for his progress!
KC's Clones: 7/8/10 Liz C. line driving Dante Clupepper in a harness dragging a single tree and a bucket. The bucket helps to desensitize the horse to a noisy foreign object and is more visual than the single tree alone. Dante is still in an open bridle, which means that the bridle has no blinders which would inhibit the horse's rearward vision.
KC's Clones: 7/8/10 Liz C. line driving Dante Clupepper in a harness. Dante is pulling a single tree, which can later be used to pull a sled, this accustoms the horse to the feeling of foreign objects bumping into his legs. This is another step in safely preparing a horse to drive.
KC's Clones: 7/8/10 Liz C. line driving Dante Clupepper in a harness. This is an early phase in teaching a horse to drive & pull weight. In this video, Dante is wearing an open bridle, which means it has no blinders to inhibit his rearward vision, and the tugs are being allowed to drag the ground to get him accustomed to the feel of them bumping against his legs & feet.
KC's Clones: 7/3/10 Liz C. on Dante Clupepper & Kristin E. on Sir Spotsalot exploring new territory at Beaver Creek State Park. The terrain got too rough and they had to retreat!

KC's Clones: 6/11/10 Liz C. on Dante Clupepper, Bryanna W. on Cowboys Acre & Kristin L. on Chocolate crossing a concrete bridge with water flowing over it.
KC's Clones: 6/11/10 Liz C. on Dante Clupepper riding (w/ her bareback rig!) down and then back up a set of stairs we found along the trail.
KC's Clones: 6/11/10 Liz C. on Dante Clupepper, Bryanna W. on Cowboys Acre & Kristin L. on Chocolate leisurely walking along the trail.
KC's Clones: Hill Climb Trail Ride on 6/11/10. Included in this video is Casey P. on KC's Adaptdun, Bryanna W. on Cowboys Acre and Liz C. on Dante Clupepper. Liz is riding Dante in a bareback rig because on the way to this park to ride, her saddle broke beyond repair!! We took the breast collar, girth, cinch strap and off billet and with an extra cinch we had in the trailer, fashioned a surcingle to make a sort of bareback rig! We adapted!! This hill is much steeper than it appears to be in this video and the horses used themselves well & took good care of their riders.
KC's Clones: Here is Liz C. longing Dante Clupepper over a tarp on 5/13/10. This exercise teaches the horse to give to pressure from the rope, respect the handler's space and cross a tarp all at one time!

Back in 1999, my friend Liz C. , shown here in this clip, went to Japan and brought back some nice items. One was a CD for me, some music of which you will hear in this clip, but the other goodies included Magic Knight Rayearth goodies. I'm hoping to get back in touch with Liz by uploading this clip, profusely annotated with subs.
