timesofearth.com BERLIN — More than 4000 pilots at Lufthansa airlines have launched a four-day strike over pay and job security that could ground two thirds of the German carrier's flights this week and cost it $135m. Confirming the start of the strike at midnight on Monday (23:00 GMT on Sunday), Lufthansa spokeswoman Stefanie Stotz said the airline regretted "the inconveniences caused" to passengers. Around 3200 flights are expected to be hit by the strike and the airline said the action could cost it about 100 million euros ($135m) in addition to possible damage to its reputation. Pilots from the Vereinigung Cockpit (VC) trade union voted for the strike on concerns that the company could try to cut staff costs by shifting jobs to foreign subsidiaries where wages are lower. Pilots for Lufthansa Cargo and Lufthansa's its low-budget subsidiary, Germanwings, are also taking part in the strike after last-ditch attempts to reach a compromise failed. Over the weekend, the pilots' union offered new negotiations, but Lufthansa said it would not resume talks unless the union dropped certain demands. "We are open to talks without preconditions," Klaus Walther, another Lufthansa spokesman, said, adding that "if Cockpit withdrew its list of unworkable and illegal demands... an agreement could be found quickly". "We are ready to come to an agreement on job security for the pilots of Lufthansa straight away. It is on VC to accept the only pre-condition that is in the way and that is ...

Here is my first ever visit to Heathrow Airport in London. All the footage seen in all parts of the video were filmed from Myrtle Avenue which is a popular area with aviation enthusiasts and its just a 2min walk from Hatton Cross too. Please excuse any of my excitement as I really enjoyed my visit and the thrash from those planes was awesome! The first plane we filmed was a Star Alliance Air Canada Boeing 767 which takes off from runway 27L and not 27R as originally thought, so I apologise for the mix-up. The second plane I saw was a Virgin Atlantic Boeing 747-400 behind the trees and the fence and also you can just see the tail of the JAL Japan Airlines Boeing 767 which you will see it depart in the final part of this video. Then we filmed an unknown operator (This has been identified as Royal Air Maroc) of a Boeing 737 but the thrash from the engines from this take off was very impressive hence my slight excitement for which I apologise for and I believe the engines of that plane were GE-90 type although I am open to correction on this. After this impressive take off, we spotted a Thai Boeing 747 which has Rolls Royce Trent Engines although it wasn't due to take off for about a couple of hours so I filmed a British Airways Boeing 737 which has Rolls Royce engines as opposed to GE-90 types and I believe this is working an internal UK flight. Then we film a Singapore Airlines Boeing 767 and a Star Alliance Lufthansa Airlines Learjet Charter Plane whilst a British Airways ...

Deutsche Lufthansa AG (ISIN: DE0008232125) (German pronunciation: [ˈdɔɪtʃə ˈlʊfthanza]) is one of the largest airlines in Europe in terms of overall passengers carried, and the flag carrier of Germany. The name of the company is derived from Luft (the German word for "air"), and Hansa (after Hanseatic League, the powerful medieval trading group). The airline is the world's fifth largest airline in terms of overall passengers carried, operating services to 18 domestic destinations and 183 international destinations in 78 countries across Africa, Americas, Asia and Europe. Lufthansa corporate headquarters is in Cologne, with its main base and primary traffic hub at Frankfurt Airport in Frankfurt am Main with a second hub at Munich Airport.[2] Lufthansa is a founding member of Star Alliance, the world's largest airline alliance. Star Alliance was formed in 1997 together with Thai Airways, United Airlines, Air Canada and Scandinavian Airlines System. rtwb.spaces.live.com - The video is mostly about Berlin and the comparison between United's First Class (SFO-FRA) and Lufthansa's First Class (FRA-SFO). I was in Berlin for one day before the IWA Conference in Nürnberg so I got to put in Berlin's museums and monuments. The IWA Conference in Nürnberg is boring for most people so I didn't include that. It's a fast-paced video - you might want to keep your finger above the pause button if it gets too fast.
www.TravelsWithSheila.com Airplane travel is usually not a highlight of traveling but if you stick to one airline and save your miles, you too can fly first class -- FOR FREE! Plan ahead and if you can make it happen, try for Singapore Airlines or Lufthansa. Lufthansa has a dedicated off-site First Class Lounge that is like dying and going to heaven. They just opened a new First Class Lounge inside the Frankfurt Terminal that is equally luxurious. Oh...to be rich...never mind the famous...I'd settle for filthy rich! But since that's not to be, save your miles.
My product review of Lufthansa Airlines. I gave it a 4 out of 5 stars. My flight with Lufthansa went from Cairo, Egypt to Orlando, FL USA with a connecting flight in Frankfurt, Germany. The employees at the Frankfurt airport were so amazingly nice and very helpful. The Germany to USA flight was so smooth. The seats were so comfy with individual touchscreen monitors with plenty of movies, tv shows and radio stations for entertainment. Lots of bathrooms/lavatories within the plane so you're always relieved. Haha I apologize for my tired voice and loopiness. I was recovering from the flu and hadn't slept well. I seem to never sleep well or at all the night before going on a flight.
